Inside Look At Citi Field In NY

Featured Replies

Zach Hample, noted baseball collector, went to the college game at the new Citi Field and in his blog he gave an in depth review of the park with tons of photos. His review was more about how easy or difficult it will be to snag balls at games and BP, but there are some interesting points. Read about it here.

In summary, he doesn't like it. He says that different segments remind him of different ballparks and that it isn;t the same as a whole. Hopefully the Marlins park will follow one or two general themes and be better.

The stadium looks fantastic. The guy that wrote this critique is a total fool. He is much more concerned about his baseball collection (seven per game average!) than actually watching the game.

They have a brand new gorgeous stadium instead of that dump called Shea. I can't believe the ungratefulness of this numb skull.

I gotta admit, there are a lot of weird angles, but that guy seems to care way too much about how stair railings get in his way from getting a ball, as opposed to how it actually helps people, especially old people, go up the stairs.

wow. the stadium from outside looks incredible. he does have some points though. but its a really nice stadium. anyways, here's something I found interesting. he took a pic of shea stadium since it's next to citifield. I thought they would have tore it down by now but I guess it's still up looking the same as always.

This guy acts like a 12 year old, I remember he was in Miami for Griffey's 600th, and his blog for that day was just a bitch fest about how he hated that he missed that ball. He didn't even want to stay and watch the game because of how disappointed he was, etc. He really is nitpicking the stadium, it looks amazing from what I can tell in his pictures.

Seriously. Somebody should call the wambulance.

I was pissed that I didn't catch that ball, either.

I was even more pissed when I got kicked out a half hour later.

He shouldn't complain about it. The field is amazing and is one of the nicest I've seen. If he's so distraught aout not being able to get a ball, he should go buy an overpriced wahmburger and french cries.

I like Citi Field far better than Yankee Stadium III. The new porcelain palace does not impress me at all.

In fact, I wonder how they spent $1.6 billion on it...

I'm really glad I found this thread.

Upon reading these remarks about the "Ball Guy" I immediately remembered some odd behavior from a fan at a game here in Baltimore (Camden Yards) against the Rays in August 2007. The guy was such a douche bag it left a lasting impression upon me to the point where here I am, nearly two years later, with total recall. I remember distinctly it was a Rays game in the summer of 2007 and I crossed referenced it with his blog. It was definitely him.

My friend and I were sitting in the 4th row (or so) behind the Rays dugout ($25 a piece from a scalper) and this asshole sat across the aisle from us. The entire game he was like a golden retriever on speed not caring one lick about the scoring but instead decided to frantically chase every single damn ball that left the bat. He would climb over little kids and everything. I have never seen such a pathetic human being in all my existence.

So does this guy have a job or does he just travel the country collecting baseballs? I imagine he must be some spoiled rich snob in order for him to be able to fund his hobby.

He had his girlfriend with him at the time too. I'm surprised she is attractive as she is, considering how big of a douche he is.

He has said in his blogs that he works some at his parents book store in NYC, but now he has written two books and is working on a third so I don't think he needs a real job. I know the guy seems like a huge asshole, but he is there to collect balls, not watch the game, that's his prerogative.

You're right, however, he claims to be a baseball fan. You would think that after a few balls snagged, he would like to actually sit down and watch the game. Especially for someone who has traveled to so many different parks.

I bet he sticks around for one game and just watches.

I don't blame him for chasing Griffeys 600ths. I would.
