But Cantu has struggled this month badly

His OPS in May (.561) is actually lower than Boni's (.593). Coghlan is the only regular with a lower OPS.

How much longer until we just put him on the 15 day DL to let his wrist heal up the rest of the way? It's obviously still bothering him, that can be seen everytime he has to apply a tag at first. Yeah, not having him in the line up sucks. He has still come up in several big RBI moments this month. But having him on the bench for twoish weeks and getting the real cantu back is better than having this cantu the entire season.

Not a terrible idea at all, especially if Hayes can produce.

Yeah I noticed him cgringe with pain the other day at 1st. I don't know about putting him on the dl though. I guess the question is 70 percent of cantu better than 100 of another guy.

If he played so well thorough it earlier I don't see why he can't now unlessits gotten worse.

I blame Rab.

When Cantu started out red hot in April, he started making reservations for St. Louis and said that Cantu would have to start completely sucking for him to not make the All Star team.

Nice job, Rab :|

It's your own fault. Doubter.

yeah, how he did at the start of when his wrist first got injured is what makes a move all the more questionable. Though it does bring up to our uninformed minds, did something more happen since then, is it even worse now?

We can assume Gload and/or Helms can combine to put up a, oh. lowish .700 OPS? (like, .710-.720?). Cantu problem beats that, his injury certainly shouldn't make him this bad, as said his April showed that, but I'd eat that for two weeks knowing I'd get cantu at 100% for the remaining 4 months. Given his age and how he did in April he looked like he was really going to break out this year, I'd hate to miss that because we never let his injury heal.

I didn't realize he was doing that bad. It's a shame, he was on fire in April.

Outright putting him on the DL would be a mistake. Let him sit for a few days and rest that wrist while getting treatment for it. If it dosen't improve, then DL him and back date it. From the little I have seen of Hayes, the guy is a defensive catcher. Throw Baker over at 1B and use Paulino and Hayes as our catchers.
