I am liking what I am seeing in Ross Gload. Okay, so he's coming through in pinch hitting situations, but could it be time to give him a run at 1B and give Jorge's wrist a rest? Then, if successful, and once we've stopped trying/being forced to give every single pitcher within the organisation a (temporary) spot on the roster, how about this for a line-up?

De Aza CF

Hermida LF

Ramirez SS

Cantu 3B

Uggla 2B

Baker C

Ross RF

Gload 1B

Helms, Bonifacio, Amezaga, Paulino & Carroll on the bench.

I would like to give Gload a run of game but as I said last night, play him in RF, Hermida in LF, Coghlan to 3B and Bonifacio to the bench.

No. Moving Cantu back to 3B would be a bad idea. If they were to start him, it should be as a corner OF, although that would mean that we would have no pure lefty off the bench.

this makes more sense. we'd be able to keep cantu at 1st and allow coghlan to play his natural position. although coghlan hasn't been hit lately apart from yesterday's game.

I'm more than willing to sacrifice that to get Boner out the starting lineup.

As bad as Bonifacio has been, it wouldn't benefit us as much as you would think. Cantu's lackluster defense at 3B wouldn't help us at all, and having Bonifacio and Amezaga as the only two options off the bench who can hit from the left side certainly won't help us either. Gload is a useful PH and an occasional starter, but not an everyday player.

I never said I wanted Cantu to move to 3B. Coghlan at 3rd, Hermida to LF and Gload in RF.

Then we would be losing too much offensive production though. Either way, I think Gload should remain a PH.

give Gload a few starts, absolutely. Put him at 1st and let Cantu rest his hand.

Or corner OF ... give Boni a break and let Coghlan try 3rd once or twice.

I really wouldn't mind this:

Hermida LF/RF

Baker C

Hanley SS

Cantu 1B

Uggla 2B

Cody CF

Gload RF/LF

Bonifacio/Coghlin 3B

And by wouldn't mind, I mean that's what I want.

personally, this is the lineup I would like to see

SS Hanley

C Baker

1B Cantu

2B Uggla

LF Hermida

CF Ross

RF Gload

3B Coghlan

Pitcher

but Rab's lineup is my other alternative anyway, considering Hermida is a walks machine and putting him in the leadoff spot is the best spot for a guy who walks as much as Hermida does. Plus that allows Hanley to stay where he has succeeded this year. Let's add in another possibility

LF Hermida

C Baker

SS Hanley

1B Cantu

2B Uggla

RF Ross

3B Coghlan

CF De Aza

Pitcher

this would allow the team to keep Gload on the bench where he has been at his best as a pinch hitter, as well as give De Aza a chance to start, where he has done well when given the chance.

There are so many options out there, but one thing is for certain, any of the ones we are bringing up are no question better than the one the team is currently using.

As long as we're all day dreaming, here is my line-up:

1. De Aza CF Speed at the top of the line-up and excellent defender.

2. Uggla 2B We need his power bat to return and he will see more fastballs with Hanley behind him

3. Hanley SS

4. Cantu 1B Our best clutch hitter.

5. Baker C A good lefty between Cantu and Cody

6. Cody RF

7. Helms 3B Underused experienced bat

8. Hermida LF Most patient hitter on the team. He will needed it batting 8Th

Bench: Gload to be used frequently for Hermida and Cantu.

Amezaga

Paulino

Bonifacio to pinch run in late innings

so you put the most patient hitter on the team hitting before the pitcher? Am I the only one that doesn't see the sense in this. De Aza is a slightly better version of Boni, slap hitter, gonna live on those slap hits and bunt base hits, if you want Boni out of the leadoff spot, the last person you want back there is De Aza. Uggla in the 2 spot is a terrible idea, remember we tried this a little while back and it was a failure of an idea, why do it again??? Your lineup also includes putting in a poor starter in Helms, who succeeds much better in the pinch hit role. You are once again wasting Baker's good contact hitting in the 5 spot, why put a terrible contact hitter in Uggla at 2 and keep Baker at 5? Should be the other way around, Uggla at 5, Baker at 2. I'm still surprised you took Coghlan out of the lineup the way he is playing, to take out a hot hitter would be stupid.
