May 31, 200917 yr As part of the Aaron Heilman trade in the winter he has come up with the mariners and as a starter has done a solid job.......however that trade we made with the mets for him was a very good one and hopefully henry owens can come back strong. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7599 By the way does anyone know how much longer owens has on his suspension?
May 31, 200917 yr I route for a lot of ex-Marlins. It was pretty obvious at the time that Vargas just wasn't gonna get it done in the majors. He had been figured out and didn't have the pitches to excel. I still don't understand how we traded him and got two worthwhile pieces, when these days our FO can't even trade good players and get the same return.
May 31, 200917 yr i was a big vargas fan when he pitched for us. i wish him the best of luck with the m's but i highly doubt he can keep up those kind of numbers

He has a K/BB of just 1.89 and has given up a lot of HRs. One of the main reasons his ERA is so low is because of his LOB%, 98.4%. League average is just 71%, so that should come crashing down.
June 1, 200917 yr I was just reading today that the main reason for the Mariner's success this season was the new GMs's ability to define and then build a team around defense first, which I'd assume is one of the reasons for his high LOB%.
June 1, 200917 yr I blame Girardi for Vargas, he made the Scarecrow cut his hair!!!! He was like Sampson after the cut.
