Erick. Why are you so quick to throw him under the bus when there's almost 2/3 of the season left and this is by any standard a learning process for him? Rome wasn't built in a day.

Seems to me you'll get nearly unanimous thumbs up or down by season's end regarding re-signing the guy anyways. he either does the job or he doesn't.

If Lindstrom fails to put up good numbers by the end of this year, I wouldn't want him back for 2 million either. But If he does, he might be a steal at 2 million. So we'll see.

A steal is getting a career solid reliever like Kiko Calero for what we got him for. This is no steal. The Marlins operate differently from other teams, and Lindstrom is very replaceable, to say the least.

I said IF he puts up good numbers, he'll be a steal at 2 million. If he doesn't, then obviously he'll be replaceable.

Since when do the Marlins pay 2 million for a reliever? Quite frankly, I'm still surprised they gave Helms what they gave him (worst contract on the team, btw). For one, Lindstrom is nothing more than average. He's also going to be 30 next year...not an exactly an age for potential/huge upside excitement anymore.

Yea, that's kind true. Maybe something around 1 million will be good. If we don't bring him back, Jose Ceda will have a great chance to be on the 25 man roster. How's he doing right now?

Probably still dieting. (I feel bad not knowing, considering Ceda was my "2009 Adopt-A-Marlin")

1. The Marlins have a budget.

2. How many closers have we had this decade, alone? The Marlins don't give relievers contracts like this...why would they start doing so with Lindstrom?

3. The Marlins have some nice core players, who I'm sure they have as their priority to sign long-term (starting with Josh Johnson).

4. Leo Nunez can do what Lindstrom is doing...at a cheaper price next year, plus he's younger. The Marlins have done a great job in the past of scouting/getting cheap relievers on the FA market; I'm sure they will continue this approach, instead of signing an average reliever for 2 mill.
