June 29, 200917 yr You would take Volstad over Tommy Hanson? Hanson is the real deal. Volstad is a number three in most rotations. Once again Hanson has pitched a grand total of 29 innings. So yes, for now I will take Volstad. From what I've seen/heard of Hanson, he's got the type of dominant potential that could allow him to keep mowing down hitters. Volstad is good and all, but if Hanson is as good as he seems then I don't see why only having 29 innings makes him inferior to Volstad.
June 29, 200917 yr Yeah, who cares how many innings he pitched? He's leagues more talented than Volstad.
June 29, 200917 yr I understand the concern everyone has. We are an inconsistent team that needs another bat and maybe another arm for the pen. But be careful what you wish for. Personally, I don't want to trade one of our top prospects for something that might not happen. Someone like Anibal Sanches ok, but someone like Dominguez would kill me. You couldn't trade Anibal Sanchez for a bag of balls at this point. At least somebody would be making a very bad trade if they gave us anything of value in return. Not alone, in a package. Some team could think he may be able to turn it around. Maybe as a reliever.
June 30, 200917 yr Eh, okay. But you know, you are allowed to project talent without having to see a guy pitch an entire season. You can't seriously tell me that if Atlanta offered the Marlins Hanson strait up for Volstad, they wouldn't make that deal 100 times out of 100.

This season, you have to expect Volsatd to be better than Hanson.

Dontrelle Willis sound familiar? Certainly rings a bell. Although I'd say Dontrelle is still in at least a half a league above Anibal.
June 30, 200917 yr If dontrelle stops popping perkaset and comes back to miami, he'll be a league ahead of Anibal. Right now, I'm hoping he gets cut and arrives in a marlins uniform by August.
