July 8, 200917 yr Branyan would be real interesting though he also seems to be the kind of hitter the FO is trying to move away from branyan would be awesome and he makes less than a million for the rest of the season. although i doubt that the mariners trade him while they're still in the race. but then again would the FO give up a good prospect for half a season of branyan because he'd want a huge pay raise in the off season.
July 8, 200917 yr how would that be dumb? jones will be 2x the player maybin will ever be and will give us another bat that could carry us to the playoffs. granted now that i think of it it will never happen but still id much rather have adam jones in center then kouz at 3rd who is batting .237 this year. no thanks il take bonifacio whose at least batting over 300 against lefties. kouz is just another uggla with less HR. Are you Crazy? Jones is in his 4th season and is having his only good year so far. How could you say Maybin is not going to be better or at least as good. I really don't know why I said Kouzmenoff though. Here are some guys we should try to get that have pretty decent contracts. Willy Aybar 2 Yrs 2.6 Mil. And that's about it besides Teahen since almost everyone except for Casey McGehee is arbitration eligible. We really only need somebody who hits RHP well and that is Gaby Sanchez. His defense isn't great but at least he should be able to produce offensivley.

I wouldnt say 4th season, last year was his 1st full season before that the most he played in a season was 41 games. As a 23 year old he hit .270 which is higher than most of are team is hitting now and had 9 homeruns. Now as a 24 year old in his 2nd season he is tearing it up. and I agree Willy Aybar would be nice in a marlins uni.
July 8, 200917 yr Maybin is a HUGE prospect and he's only 22 years old! Come on man. Thank you! I'm not sure why people would have no problem shipping Maybin away, just for a possibility to win this year. Absolutely ludicrous. Are you joking? Adam jones is only 24 and has already shown that he is going to be a dominating force at the major leage level. Hes batting over .300 which i guess nobody on are team right now is able to do except hanram. he also has 12 HR and 46 rbi's. I really like maybin and I hope he becomes a beast player but maybin is only 2 years younger than jones and has not shown near the power jones has and probably wont end up hitting for as much avg either. Several things: The O's are not trading Adam Jones this year. Unless they got an amazing offer, I'm not sure why they would. He's making $435K this year, so after this year he'll get a pretty big raise, you have to think. Right now, do we have the money to sign him after this year? We have yet to see what Maybin can do since his time in Nola. Personally, I'm expecting big things from Maybin from the second he returns to the Marlins, but I'm willing to be extremely patient with him too. I'm not worried one bit about Maybin's lack of power. It's usually the last thing to develop for hitters and if it never comes, then he's only a 4 tool player...poor us. Not every prospect is going to be Andrew Miller as far as performance is concerned when immediately exposed to the big leagues. Give Maybin some time, Jesus.
July 8, 200917 yr Author Trust me im a maybin fan and I am excited and cant wait for maybin to get up to the majors. I hope he can tear it up be are lead off hitter for years to come
July 8, 200917 yr Trust me im a maybin fan and I am excited and cant wait for maybin to get up to the majors. I hope he can tear it up be are lead off hitter for years to come Then why would you wan't to trade him for Jones. They are basically going to be the same type of player, Potential 5 Tools when they get older and fill out there bodies. But Maybin is still a 22 Year old rookie who we pay basically nothing for and Jones is an all star going into Arbitration and is going to be making a lot of money and we won't be able to afford him.

It doesn't make sense to me.

This. I'm so sick of hearing "well we don't know if Maybin will pan out or if he will be a bust." Just saying that would infer that we should keep him and find out. Trading him because we don't know if he will pan out or be a bust makes absolutely no sense.

I kno jones will not be traded but you said maybin/west for jones would be stupid. I was proving my point that it would not be a stupid trade because jones right now is one of the best OF in the game

We'd be trading 2 players who have great potential for a guy we would have for HALF A SEASON!

You dont know that we would only have him for only A HALF A SEASON since he is a guy you could build your team around. unlike HERMIDA,UGGLA.
July 8, 200917 yr get an offensive bat, get soria, and a trade for roy halladay and if possible alex rios...a man can dream =)
July 8, 200917 yr You dont know that we would only have him for only A HALF A SEASON since he is a guy you could build your team around. unlike HERMIDA,UGGLA. Yes I do since he'd be going to a great thing known as arbitration. He'd be making good money and we wouldn't be able to afford him. Yes he's a great player and yes he will be for years to come but it's just not gonna happen.

Yeah, what kind of idiots would build a team around the 2nd best hitting 2B in the league since he debuted?!!?!
July 8, 200917 yr Could Luke Scott be an option? He has been ON lately. I'd look up stats, but I'm heading to work soon.

He's on a one year contract because he has so little service time the Orioles are going year to year with him in arbitration and have total control over for a number of years to come. The Marlins have any number of players in the same situation, Ricky Nolasco has almost exactly the same service time for example and you know he's not going anywhere. He's only a free agent if the Orioles don't offer him arbitration and that just isn't going to happen.
