I know there are a lot of people on here debating what we should do to make us a playoff team ( trade hermida, get relief help, etc) so I decided to make this thread. Before you post actually do research not just some random thing like trade for manny or trade for youkilis something that could actually happen.

If the FO called you and said you could make one move to enhance this teams chances to go all the way "this year" what would you do?

Who would you trade/ pick up?

I would get another major league hitter because without Hanley in the lineup, we have one of the worst lineups in all of baseball!

i agree 100% but what would you do to get the hitter in the lineup?

IMO you start by sending ADA down to AAA and call up maybin.

then I would see what kinda trade value RVH or anibal have.

after that I would try to make a deal for Juan Pierre. I believe he makes 10 million next year. I would try and trade them hermida and possibly gaby sanchez/rvh.anibal.

mark teahen or kevin kouzmanoff. preferably teahen because he has better BA and OBP. i don't think either would cost us that much in prospects.

our FO is not going to get a guy who makes more money than hanley ramirez. when your considering trades, money is the first thing you have to consider when it comes to the marlins.

what about Adam Jones of the O's. I cant find his contract info but it says he signed a 1 year deal im sure its not too much.

well you'd have to start a deal around maybin and then more. he's probably one of the untouchable players on the O's.

id deal maybin for him.

maybe maybin/sean west type deal and put RVH in the 5 spot of rotation

Absolutely no chance of the Baltimore dealing Jones. I would say his value is much higher than Maybin as of right now as he has shown that he can produce at the Major League level for a lengthy period of time (compared to Maybin).

Trade for Scott Rolen, Alex Rios, and Roy Halladay from the Blue Jays

Send them Stanton, Morrison, Coghlan, West, Hermida, Smolinski, Dominguez, and a couple of our a ball SPs

Cody moves to left, Maybin in center, rios in cf, rolen to 3b, Hallday takes West spot and is the new #1 and rest stays the same

Win the world series this year and next year then suck for the next 10 years because Rolsen and Halladay would be FAs we don't have a farm system anymore.

That would be so stupid it's not even funny.

I'd try to go for a 3rd baseman like Kouzmenoff(sp) or Teahen for Hermida plus you can throw in Anibal and a minor league pitcher (hopefully not a prospect) and also try to get another starting pitcher.

Then Move Maybin to CF. Cody in Right and a BC/CC platoon in LF.

New 3rd Baseman at 3rd, Hanley at Short, Uggla at 2B Cantu at 1st

Baker/Paulino Catching

Rotation of JJ Nolasco Volstad Miller New SP if not then West/RVH

Bonifacio, Helms, Gload, Baker/Paulino, BC/CC

The Orioles have absolutely no reason to trade Adam Jones. He is a player that they want to build their franchise around. It's not enough to say "ooh, this guy is good, let's trade for him". You have to ask yourself "Does it make sense for both teams?" In this case it most certainly does not.

I would like another bat (mid 800s OPS or better) and / or a top of the rotation starter. Kevin Kouzmanoff of the .276 OBP wouldn't help much and Mark Teehan would help but not enough to make a difference and we don't need more bullpen arms.

how would that be dumb? jones will be 2x the player maybin will ever be and will give us another bat that could carry us to the playoffs. granted now that i think of it it will never happen but still id much rather have adam jones in center then kouz at 3rd who is batting .237 this year. no thanks il take bonifacio whose at least batting over 300 against lefties. kouz is just another uggla with less HR.

I would love to see Adrian Beltre in a Marlins Uni. It could be possible if Seattle begins to slide within the next couple of weeks and turns into sellers at the dealine. But it would take a lot i think to get him

Does it sound bad if I would take keeping Maybin and Stanton long-term rather then trading them for someone who WOULD help us make the playoffs this year?

Just wondering. It seems like everyone wants to win NOW, but I'd be more than willing to wait it out until we get some of these guys up here.

Maybin is a HUGE prospect and he's only 22 years old! Come on man.

he's out with shoulder surgery until at least september.

Thank you! I'm not sure why people would have no problem shipping Maybin away, just for a possibility to win this year. Absolutely ludicrous.

i'd love an .800 OPS guy but they're not easy to get. i was looking on ESPN mlb stat leaders and the only player that we could get with such an OPS and not mortgage our farm system would be alberto callaspo and he wouldn't be that big of an improvement at 3rd. i still think that we'll get teahen before the trade deadline.

Agree 100%, if we are going to compete with the Mets and Phils year after year we need home grown prospects.

Branyan would be real interesting though he also seems to be the kind of hitter the FO is trying to move away from

can play 1b/3b/lf/rf, career .845 OPS against RHP. Having a monster year this year but he's not a 300 hitter so it won't keep up. He's also only do about 700k the rest of the way, plus st most 250k in performance bonuses.

I'm also rather sad we didn't go after Hinske. Wanted him this offseason. another 1b/3b/lf/rf, .775 OPS this year and 774 OPS in his career. Cost basically nothing for the yankees.

Are you joking? Adam jones is only 24 and has already shown that he is going to be a dominating force at the major leage level. Hes batting over .300 which i guess nobody on are team right now is able to do except hanram. he also has 12 HR and 46 rbi's. I really like maybin and I hope he becomes a beast player but maybin is only 2 years younger than jones and has not shown near the power jones has and probably wont end up hitting for as much avg either.
