Why Can't I find a 1993-2002 Road Jersey? Are they a collectors Item or very rare?

I want to get one to put Piazza 31 across the back but I can't find them anywhere. It's going on 2 months now (sporadically).

If you have one, or know where to get one Let me know please through PM or here. I'd like to buy it. Hopefully it'll have the sleeve patch, but I really don't care anymore.

Looking for this jersey---

I got one on ebay months ago after a couple years of searching...ended up paying almost $80 for it. W/ almost 20 bids on it and the scarcity for the old gray's, I'm guessing they are a collector's item (I don't think they were nearly the seller that the teal pinstripped home's were, unfortunately). I've been noticing a lot of people at the games wearing throwback jerseys and hats, which is proof teal isn't dead and the fans still want it.

It's a shame, because this is my favorite, all-time Marlins jersey. Very classy, the teal block letters on the gray really popped out. Puts the current road jerseys to shame. Yeah, black and silver on grey w/ thin black piping on the sleeve. Very exciting and original.

The trick isn't necessarily finding one, because you can always find what you're looking for on the interweb if you search hard enough. No, the key is findng someone that will be able to producer the authentic lettering from those jerseys if you want to go the Piazza route. Just about every lettering kit you'll find only has the current numbering and lettering, which is a little smaller and has an additional silver layer. I've found a few places that will do customization and have the ability to replicate the lettering ffrom the classic home and road jerseys, but it's almost $60 just for the lettering kits. They charge way extra to sew on for you.

If you find what you're looking for, let me know and I'll send you their addresses. FYI, the road jersey's lettering was black w/ a single teal outline (the former home jersey's were black w/ a white and black outline). I'm awaiting my "Dawson 8" kit from Eastern Lettering.

I miss the teal. Some people call them beer league but personally I find it interesting to have a 30 team league where all the team's aren't going for the same stale look.

What size are you looking for?

I could use anywhere from a Large to XXL---- thanks for responding.

As far as the lettering goes. I've noticed the Mariners Roads look errily similar but not sure yet (didn't do much research) I know its navy blue, but I also know a couple of lettering places that start from scratch and just need the cut pattern.

I also foudn a guy on ebay months ago, but I'd have to reconnect with him. I was supposed to order the kit for the home jersey, but didn't really want it. $40 shipped to me. I just have to put it on (find an old lady or seamstress in miami is like finding a car on the street).

Thanks for the help guys.

I've had mine since '96. I still wear it to games or out at the sports bars.

I've always felt myself a minority amongst diehards in thinking those jerseys were horrid.

My favorite "Marlins" jerseys were the Teal w/ black spring training jersey and the Portland Sea Dogs teal mesh jersey (when Portland was still Marlins AA club)...WHen Portland came to Reading to play the Phillies AA I used to get some good autographs (like Adrian Gonzalez , Charles Johnson, and Mark Kotsay) because the players noticed the Sea Dog jersey

Those old teal ones were crazy---kinda cool to wear part time though.

These roads were awesome though. Especially considering the teal FLORIDA across the front.

Rab, Why didn't you like them?

They had just the right amount of teal and black.

He doesn't like our old road throwbacks, but somehow I get the feeling he loves the rainbow jerseys the Astros used to wear. :|

Yeah, way too big for me too----the seller told me it fits like a 3XL.

Plus---it looks like CC Sabathia would wear it in that pic.

52 is 2XL. I'm a 48 (XL).

Yeah but it says its on the huge side, like a 3XL.

If it was on the short side, I'd be on it. I just would swim in that. I'm a Large.

How much you willing to pay? I have one here (XL) with a nice blank back ready for customizing. I've been dying to create a "Matias Carrillo" or "Rich Rodriguez" jersey out of mine. I bought it in 1994.
