Posted August 12, 200915 yr I am one of the few that agrees with most of Fredi's decisions. But, tonight in the bottom of the 11th when Coghlan and Johnson both reached on walks I thought he should of bunted with Hanley. I can care less now because we won but anyways, a successful bunt would have put men at 2nd and 3rd with one out. The winning run (a pretty fast runner) at 3rd. Anything like a wild pitch, a balk or a sac fly would have scored the winning run. And it's not like the next hitter Cantu isn't capable of hitting a fly ball to the outfield. I don't care anymore because we won but I just thought he should have bunted and got the winning run at 3rd with 1 out for Cantu.
August 12, 200915 yr I also thought NJ should have bunted but he did end up walking and we did end up winning the game so it's alright.
August 12, 200915 yr You dont bunt with your biggest run producer in that situation,,,as much I believe Fredi is a subpar manager i believe he had to let Ramirez hit away

August 12, 200915 yr I think if NJ would have bunt, Hanley definitely would have been intentionally walked. So it would be pointless.

Chances of manufacturing a run helped by a Ramirez bunt are about equal to the chance Hanley could have won the game right then.
August 12, 200915 yr You don't bunt with one of the best hitters in baseball. Now, If NJ bunted, I wouldn't have a problem.

August 12, 200915 yr There was no point to bunt with NJ, cause if he had succeeded, Hanley would have most definitely been walked.

August 12, 200915 yr You don't bunt with the guy who's the league's leading hitter, and also the league's leading hitter with RISP. Â And as far as bunting with NJ, you don't bunt with the guy who's the best on the team at not making outs. Especially if the bunt's moving the guy from 1st to 2nd. 2nd to 3rd maybe, but not 1st to 2nd.
August 12, 200915 yr Rabb has a good point. NJ is the best at not making outs. So bunting with him wouldn't have been the best Idea.
August 12, 200915 yr After C.C. Stole 2nd they should have bunted with NJ to move him to 3rd for Hanley with 1 out.
