August 26, 200917 yr Surprised no one updated this all day Pitchers (all relievers) Jay Buente Garrett Parcell Jay Voss Hitters Mike Stanton Matt Dominguez Bryan Petersen Greg Burns (taxi squad, only plays Weds/Sat games) The Marlins can add a 4th pitcher at some point. I'd say the short list would be from Kyle Winters, Brett Sinkbeil, Steve Cishek, and Brad Stone. Winters needs the work if he's healthy. Hasn't pitched since June 15. No Morrison. No Cousins. Not sure why Greg Burns is over them. Guess just for the small playing time. We are being really really aggressive with Dominguez and Stanton here.
August 26, 200917 yr I don't want Dominguez anywhere near our major league squad until he can blow a bubble correctly (like Coghlan today)
August 26, 200917 yr I wouldnt worry about Morrison and others, there are other fall leagues. I never felt Morrison would play in the AFL 2 seasons in a row...He may play Winter ball either in Puerto Rico or Dominican Republic. If he does or he doesn't he will be an early reportee to Spring training. BTW I don't think there ever was any doubt that both Stanton and Dominguez were gonna play in the AFL this Fall
August 26, 200917 yr Author Why no Morrison? Probably because he obliterated the AFL last year, and if he didn't do the same or better, it would be viewed negatively. He can play in the DR and rake for 30 games, and then head to NOLA for 2-3 months and see if he's ready in the summer.
August 26, 200917 yr I wouldnt worry about Morrison and others, there are other fall leagues. There isn't an AFL 2 this year due to funds. Maybe he would go play in one of the Carribean leagues?
