Marlins top 10 prospects/projected line-up

I'm so happy Spike has found his new Gaby in Chad James.

You think a guy who hasnt thrown a single pitch should be ranked ahead of a guy who had a breakout year and made it to AA in his 2nd full season?

Most decent prospects make it to AA in their second full season so that's not really an accolade.

No.

No no no no no.

Dominguez was one of 7 hitters in the entire league to be 19 years old. Over 400 hitters played in the league, meaning 1.7% of the players were 19 years old.

Ontop of which, only two of those 19 year olds only played in a dozen or less games (Brett Lawrie and Carlos Truinfel).

One of the others was obviously Stanton, one was Starlin Castro. The other two were Jason Heyward and Freedie Freeman.

A 19 year old making it to AA is very very very impressive. The average age of the league was 24 and a half.

To be fair, a college player making it to AA in their second year isnt unheard of. But in the context of high school players, it is quite impressive.

It takes high schoolers far longer to develop than college players, with good reason. HS talent is pretty low across the board, and much higher at the college level. Almost anyone who can do something right can get on a HS team. Not the same with colleges.

The Skipworth pick still makes me angry, because it screamed signability. We could have taken Jason Castro, the Astros' now #1 prospect, instead, but Castro was going to cost more. If I remember correctly, Skipworth was considered borderline for the first round going in. Maybe I'm wrong. But so far Skipworth hasn't shown anything of note in his pro career.

I do think that Chad James is a better prospect than Skipworth ever was, but let's face it, it was still a 'signability' thing. It was made very clear even before the draft by anyone familiar with our organization. Still, most scouts like him.

You dont remember correctly. He went right around where he was projected to(he was going to be a top 15 pick no matter what).
