Alot of MLB teams have hats called "Elmer Fudds", and the only Fudds I've seen are official caps with them sewn in.

I heard a few rumors the marlins would adopt a alternate hat this offseason, and saw this at a local lids at dolphin mall. Anyone else think the marlins might adopt this hat style?

The detective in me says lids has them for sale before they became official.

What do you guys think of the hat colors, and them moving to a normal hat in that colorway? I love it, it should have been their hat all along.

i mean i think its pretty cool and kind of defines those miami neon lights. I wouldnt mind it as an alternate hat but honestly i am not a fan of the name or uniform changes.

I doubt it, Loria doesn't like the teal enough for that.

I've already seen the non-fudd version of that cap both online and out in the wild.

I have one like that actually, but it has "Marlins" instead of the MLB logo on the back.

Once I saw the MLB logo, my mind started wondering if this is part of the change in idenity for the marlins. Remember, they are changing from Florida to Marlins on the road jerseys, and potentially dropping the black jersey.

This would probably be part of a new alternate jersey. Who knows.

I saw it with the MLB logo. It was actually on someone's head at the time, this was just recently.

Also, I don't buy that they're dropping the black jersey, which sells great. And I don't think they'll add a new alternate, as I believe the rules are they have to send the new designs like a year before to the commissioner's office (which is how the current Rays jersey leaked so early.) Now then, it's perfectly possible that it just hasn't leaked, but it doesn't makes sense for them to drop a jersey they like for a color they don't.

They aren't doing either of those things. The uniforms will be exactly like they were from last year except for the changes they've announced in regards to the road script and the "F" being removed from the sleeves. White pinstriped home, gray road, black alternate, all with all-black caps. It's a good bet they'll remain that way until 2012.

I've always liked the black with teal brim combo, wish it was an alternate cap, but alas that will probably never happen(unless I somehow become a billionaire and buy the team and keep the proper Marlins colors forever )

If this is available at a Lids store, I think it's far more likely it's a fashion cap than an official on-field cap. Now, if we sae this on the official Marlins.com store or in a Sports Authority, that'd be another thing.

I do remember last year in the stadium store, they had some adjustable New Era all-teal caps for sale. Perhaps they were fr sale as a Barometer, who knows. I doubt it.

Rabb- As far as the new Rays logos and unis, they actually leaked in the offseason a week or two before the official unveiling at their fashion show.

They leaked during the 2007 season. Here on MB we had them in September, a good 2 months before the unveiling.

If my understanding of the rule is correct, that's at least 5 months after being submitted to the Commissioner's Office.

There's no way the Marlins at this stage would be adding that hat. The Marlins are only two seasons away from undergoing a massive rebranding so it is doubtful that we will see any drastic uniform changes.

Secondly, Loria has shown that he doesn't like teal, by ushering in black and silver as dominant colors as soon as he took over. He has also gone on the record as saying that teal is a color of the 90s. Under no circumstance is there a reason to believe that we will see more teal over the next two seasons or as a major part of the new uniform when the team is called the Miami Marlins.
