Can we attend practice

Featured Replies

We're going to be in Florida between Feb 20-26 is there any way for my son to get an opportunity to watch a major league baseball team practice? We would appreciate any information.

Many thanks,

Perry

Yes, practice is usually open to the public

I've gone down a couple of times over the years, its a great chance for pictures and autographs on the backfields, especially the young up and coming players. The times I've been the usually hit the field around 9 so get there before then. The come off the field around 12/12:30, except Sundays when the start a little later.

That's actually the best time to get autographs and have conversations with players. Plus it's the closest you can get to the players for free. Have fun, I know I always do. I'll never forget getting Jeff Conine's autograph when he was with the Orioles. As he was signing my ball a woman asked him why he never smiles. He responded by touching his chest and saying "baseball players smile on the inside".

I bet Niner is just a mammoth of a dude in person.

Pretty average, actually. And pretty down to earth kinda guy. Friendly and easy to talk to. The God-like aura fans put on him is really out of place with him.
