miamibaseball
Thursday, May 20 Tickets Busch Stadium | 1:40 PM ET FLA Nate Robertson, LHP (4-3, 4.35) Marlins (22-19) @ STL Adam Wainwright, RHP (5-2, 2.48) Cardinals (23-18) Marlins: It's not always been pretty or crisp when Robertson pitches, but for the most part, the veteran left-hander has been getting the job done. Even though he was struck out 25 and walked 19 in 41 1/3 innings, he has been able to minimize damage. Robertson collected a win over the Mets in his last start, giving up three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings. In an injury-plaged 2009 with the Tigers, Robertson logged 49 2/3 total innings. He is closing in on that number now. Cardinals: Wainwright is coming off an uncharacteristically forgettable performance, but he often seems to follow those games with some of his best showings. His last time out, he made far too many mistakes with his curveball. That was very unlike him, since the curve is Wainwright's out pitch and one of the finest breaking balls of any National League pitcher. He's been especially dominant at home, posting a 2.03 ERA at Busch Stadium since the start of 2009. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/news/probable_pitchers/index.jsp?c_id=fla

enterthemadness
Marlins need to knock Wainwright out....him going 6 or more innings won't be good I think.

mystikol87
Nice start, and we made Wainwright work. Let's see what Nate's got.
gizmo
Made him throw 30 pitches that inning. Good start boys.
mystikol87
For those who are curious, Wainwright threw 30 pitches. Even if he could average 15 pitches an inning from here on out, he's unlikely to last more than 6.

Hammerhead
Not trying to jinx anything but this team isn't very good vs left handed starters. .249/.334/.371, 7 HR, 42 R. I'm expecting decent things from Nate.
mystikol87
I still wonder how many more games we could have won if we had Gaby and Cantu at the corners and not Bonifacio last year.
TrustN61
nice start. We need all the runs when Robertson is pitching. I feel like this could get ugly today.
