Pinto Released, Sosa Outrighted to AAA

Featured Replies

Are you sure he was average against LHB? I'd venture to say he was definitely below average vs. LHB for a LHP.

I'm pretty sure, I read one article that said AVG for LHB vs LHP this year was about .265 but I'm not 100% on this and I can't seem to find an entire league average anywhere right now.

Even if that is true, that means that Pinto was below average vs. LHB for a LHP.

True but that was only one season his career BAA LHP is .254 and that's including the shitfest of a season he's having this year where lefties are hitting .370 against him in minimal PA's.

So through his career he is average against lefties and above average against righties can we agree on that?

I'm just not sure if the numbers are right. Once we can get that nailed down, maybe we can agree on that. But I think we could also agree without going back to any numbers that in high leverage situations Pinto was craptastic.

Yep hes the craptastiyist when it comes to such situations.

Here are his career splits if you want to take a look http://www.baseball-...http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?n1=pintore01&year=Career&t=p

That's surprising to me, and it makes me seem like there is more to this story than we know. I think plenty of teams desperate for bullpen help would have swooped him up just looking at his ERA numbers.

You would of thought though in today's world any word of other incidents/reasons would of been made public knowledge by now

The Cardinals have agreed to terms with left-handed reliever Renyel Pinto on a Minor League contract, pending a physical exam. Pinto was released by the Marlins after being designated for assignment on June 16. General manager John Mozeliak confirmed Saturday via e-mail that a deal is in place, pending a physical. Pinto, 27, would likely head to Triple-A Memphis, serving as depth and insurance for a club that has two quality lefties on its Major League roster in Trever Miller and Dennys Reyes.

Has to be some non-public stuff that went on, they clearly didn't want anything to do with him even though it will probably cost 500-600K to be rid of him. The minor league deal with St. Louis saves a tiny amount of what we owe him. If he's called up at some point, that saves some more.

Somebody wanted him GONE, cost be damned. Just like Freddi who they also have to pay for no services.

I have a feeling that Dave Duncan and Tony LaRussa can get the best out of Pinto. Look at what they have done with Trever Miller and Dennys Reyes! Pinto is a better pitcher than both of those guys.

haven't been paying too much attention about the roster moves so why exactly was pinto released??

Noone knows.
