Yeah, I realized. He was getting lit up in the minors regardless, and what choice do we have other than him?

 

Also, where's the insight? If we were gonna need a 5th starter, why did he pitch 3 days ago?

Because he hasn't been exactly great in NOLA as of late and he's never proved to be good at the MLB level.

Wrong. West had some really solid outings last year.

Volstead will never be good unless and until he can consistenty throw a four seamer at 96.

 

Lobbing in those "sinkers" won't get it done in MLB. If they are not perfect, they get turn around hard.

 

The Marlins need to give Volstad an entirely new approach.

True....plus it' not like West has to be the second coming of Cy Young....just need to get some good starts, and eat up more innings.

It's not like J.J. didn't throw hard before, he just got into much better shape when he was recovering from Tommy Johns.

Volstad doesn't need that blazing fastball but he needs more command of his secondary pitches like his slider, curveball and changeup.

He can't throw his curveball for a strike at all
