Tampa Bay deactivates Keyshawn Johnson

In the latest shocking development from a championship defense gone awry, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have deactivated former All-Pro wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson for the rest of the season, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Tuesday.

According to Pasquarelli, Tampa Bay likely will look to trade Johnson after the season, as it believes there are several teams that are interested in acquiring his services. The NFL's trade deadline for this season passed in October.

Although the team has not yet released an official reason for the move, Johnson had openly complained in recent weeks about not getting enough passes thrown his way and his on-again, off-again relationship with Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden is well documented.

An eight-year veteran and the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft, Johnson has 45 catches for 600 yards and three touchdowns this season -- his fourth in Tampa Bay after starting his career with the New York Jets. For his career, Johnson has 603 catches for 7,936 yards and 48 touchdowns.

Miami please god pick him up.

It was reported as "released" at first but is now "deactivated" so not available. Well, I saw the headline "released" in the thread title, so I assumed he had been released. lol.

Keyshawns so overrated.

He's like Chris Hovan, he's only famous for his mouth.

Look at his stats (Keyshawns) do they really merit trading away 2 1st. Rd's like Tampa did for him or being the 1st overall pick in 1995's draft. He's a good reciever Wild Card. But he's not even near the class of even Chambers or Driver which are more 2nd tier WR's.

BTW (for those interested): Hovan has only 1 Sack this year, so that says alot about what a "great player he is", and also he has the least amount of tackles of any starting D-Linemen for the Vikes.

I was merely making an analogy between the 2 players.

Saying that they both are only famous for not shutting up and thats why they are so misconcieved to be "All World Players" like the Moss', Owens, Harrisons, Holts, Sapps, Kris Jenkins of the league at their respective positions.

Chambers or Driver which are more 2nd tier WR's.

Says who?

Driver and Chambers can easily be argued as top 10 WR's in football.

almost lol at Driver

Oh well I believe that Chambers and Driver are both Top 10 WRs.

NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.

But I consider tiers to be in player sets of 5.

Tier 1:

1. Randy Moss

2. Marvin Harrison

3. Terrell Owens

4. Torry Holt

5. Hines Ward

Tier 2:

6. Eric Moulds

7. Isaac Bruce

8. Donald Driver

9. Peerless Price

10. Chris Chambers

Or however you prefer to do it. But thats what I do. :D

almost lol at Driver Chambers is one of the most talented recievers in the game. Any scouting report or NFL coach would tell you this.

I swear on my life this is an unbiased comment. The Dolphins suck right now.

If only Miami had a QB, and/or a line to block for him.

I wholeheartedly agree.

A QB and O-Line in Miami would be great.

But I still believe that Ricky and your D is good enough to carry to 9-7/10-6 as I thought before the season.

God I hope so.

I agree wit Phlub Keyshawn is overrated. I wouldnt mind having him but not with that huge contract of his. Dolphins need O-line not a s*** talker.

Harrison, Moss, Owens, Ward, Burress, Mason, C.Johnson, Moulds, Holt, Coles, K.Robinson, Boston

just to name a few that are arguably better than Driver and Chambers

Johnson, Coles, Robinson, and Boston are all arguable.

really? look at their season(s) vs Chambers

and while your at it vs Driver

That's not a measure of talent.

I mean, Chambers is averaging 14+ yards per catch. When he gets the ball, he does just that: balls.

Not to mention he:

A) Has no QB

B) Has no O-Line to block for his mediocre QB

Keyshawn Johnson is an aging, overpaid wide receiver with poor speed. If the dolphins or whoever want him, go ahead and take him, but the bucs are going to want significant compensation for Johnson in a trade, and he is not worth it. The guy isn't even the best receiver on his own team, McCardell is better. Keyshawn makes catches over the middle and is a big target, but is not an elite receiver in this league.

I don't think so. I think the Bucs would take Ramp in a trade if the Dolphins offered him. They've essentially fired Keyshawn from his job and will probably release him after the season when the cap hit is lower. The Bucs just made this Jets fan one happy camper.

Damn no love for Amani.

I just pray to god Danny S picks Keyshawn up just so I can laugh at Snyder once more when Keyshawn proves once again he no longer has it.
