Not who I would pick, but I do see their reasoning. I said at the start of the season that he was below average defensively, but brought the best bat to the table out of the available options. He has brought his D up to "at best average", as I have said repeatedly. I also predicted he would end up hitting .270-.275 this year. I would like to see him have a real good final two games and make me wrong on that one. I have some selfish reasons for that. I don't think it's understandable at all. The percection and hype is he has played better than he has. He gets credit for playing well the first 3 months (OPS - .862) but doesn't get blamed for playing like crap the last 3 monhs (OPS - .712). I agree with ya. But I see a few reasons why they voted for him. None of them would be because of production in any aspect of his game. What I do find funny is that he did improve some defensively, but slacked off offensively. And yet he is still a better offensive player than a defensive one. BTW I was torn between voting for Logan and Stanton. A legitimate argument could be made for either one. I chose Logan because he came up, played out of position, and showed his bat is finally ML ready. I find it hard to critisize a player's lack of a good glove when he was "forced" into playing out of position. What it ultimately shows is that trades can be done with good enough players that can bring us good returns to help fill in the holes. Question is, will the FO overlook and trump the fans' obvious biased opinions and do that? Could be an interesting off season.
