3/16/11 - Marlins vs Rays

Recommended Posts

Elliot Johnson steals home. 4-1 Tampa.

So were just gonna let everybody take whatever base they want I guess, including home plate.

Apparently, Choate failed to cover home on that play... he just stood on the mound the whole time.

Wasn't marked as an error, but it should've been. That's fundamental – pitcher has to move to cover home in that situation.

choate has really been garbage.....keep this up and well be seeing dan jennings or dustin richardson. not like dunn is doing great either.

Oh my God...oh my God...the world is coming to an end! These guys have struggled for, what? 5 innings, tops? Oh my God...oh my God! Lets just ignore the larger sample sizes when things actually mattered for Choate the last couple of years. Y'know...the regular season. Actually pitching in a tougher division. OMG!!!

How we will ever overcome this Spring Training??? Lets forget the fact that everyone is 0-0 come April 1st when the games actually matter!

By the way, Dustin Richardson has allowed 11 hits and 2 walks in 5.2 innings. Without a major-league resume. Yup. That guy is clearly better...

Randy Choate has a big-league contract, and he actually signed a 2-year deal. That's how solid he's been over the years. The Marlins were willing to give a reliever more than one year for the first time ever.

Hopefully, one day you'll figure out just how irrelevant Spring Training is.

Yeah, except his larger sample size isn't that amazing either.

Yes, it is; he's a very good lefty specialist. Check out his splits.

The "spring training doesn't matter" excuse is getting old now.

It looks like it's going to be another 82-80/81-81/80-82 season. I hope I'm wrong.

And it won't have anything to do with Spring Training, regardless.

It's not an excuse; it's just a fact. Spring Training results do not matter, especially for players who are guaranteed spots on the team already.

I understand your statement, but several have said it appears many do not care. Especially someone who has said he is stepping up as the leader. If this shows his idea of leadership, I have a big problem with that. And I assume others will also including the FO. Individual titles are nice and personal rewards (jewelry) are nice, but working as a team is necessary to win games and championships and also brings rewards (jewelry-rings).
