November 30, 201114 yr "Miami has won two titles on the cheap" i'm pretty sure the first one wasn't won on the cheap. the payroll may be middling by today's standards but it took a heavy offseason of spending to get them there in '97 I believe it was either the 5th or 6th largest payroll that year. But the perception of the Marlins cheapness is so pervasive its hard to get anyone to believe they actually ever spent any money.
