Marlins In 2004

Featured Replies

They might give a few people a hard time, might post a decent record, but I don't see them returning to what they did this year.

But then again, n one would have guessed the Marlins or the Cubs would have done what they did.

The Marlins are going to be quite formidable next year. The pitching staff really came into their own towards the end of the season, and I expect we will have several 15 game winners next year. As a bonus AJ will come back into the rotation mid season.

Our defense will be solid, and I expect Cabs to show strong improvement. Lowell continues to improve, and hopefully will have a full season with career numbers. Castillo should be stronger, and who knows, perhaps Gonzo will figure out how to avoid those long slumps and put up career numbers as well.

Many pieces are coming together.....just need to nail down the bullpen. :D

its still to early to tell how they will be...

but

they will be a good team-and will have a chance at making the playoffs...and if we keep Pudge-i say we for sure get into the playoffs...

To make a fair assessment of the 04 Fish, one would need to see the outcome of Pudge. As they line-up now, I believe they would have a shot at the Wild Card. The Braves seemed to have given up for now as they will lose Sheff, Javy and probably Maddux. The Phils made their team and pen a lot better with Wagner, but could still lose Millwood. Is what we have enough to win the East? I wouldn't count them out of it right now I will feel better after Sunday when the Pudge situation will be settled. But I like that we'll have Beckett, Penny, Pavano and Willis in the rotation and sometime next year AJ. A line-up of Pierre, Castillo, Lowell, Cabrera and Conine isn't shabby either. Hey at this point I'd settle for an above .500 season. :unsure :

Wild Card?

I don't see how they can't be #1 in the east if they resign Pudge. This team offensively has potential to be better than last year if Choi can remain healthy and play near his potential. The pitching staff is as good any pitching staff. The Bullpen is the only question mark but let see what Beinfest does to bullpen. This team is heading in the right direction.

I'd put the Phillies #1 right now, especially if they keep Millwood or find someone to replace him. Wagner is a difference maker on that team and I think they're lineup actually will be better next year without changing much. Burrell's going to rebound, Thome's average will go up, and there's no reason to think anyone is going to decline.

They're the team to beat...but they've still gotta go through the Champs and I also won't believe Atlanta can't win this division until I see it.

Phillies starting pitching is so incosistent and Millwood is very streaky pitcher. We all know pitching is what wins games and the Marlins have best pitching in the East.

I think they will be an awesome team. They will give many teams a hard time ... :marlins

just hope you don't pull a 85 royals! These great young pitchers might never be good again for all you know.

I think the Marlins have a good team, and I would guess they could do wildcard again.
