On CBS 4, they just said that Pudge was offered a 3 yr/$20 mill contract with the Fish.

No offense to anyone. But I have to question it, will he even consider it or is he just looking at the offer and laughing histerically. I just hope does the right thing, just like Mikey said I could've gone somewhere else for big bucks but wanted to win here.

Man, we are hearing reports all over the map. 2 years at $20M, 2 years at $16M, and now 3 years at $20m. Boras had better agree to a figure quick before it deflates further. ;)

Who knows what the final result will be....better to start low to end up at an affordable salary. I'll bet they end up at 3 years for $24M....with contingencies on the optional 3rd year. :mischief2

i dont believe 3 years/20 mills is enough money...thats not even 7 mill a year but i believe it will be one of the best deals he will get....he's getting old and nobody wants to be stuck with someone for 3 years on a possible decline

I know some of you would love to disagree but if Castro wasn't in the perdicament he is in I think we'd have a very capable and afordable catcher. He was and still is considered to be a great talent. Some of you would argue the fact that he may not be able to handle the rotation, well you have to learn somewhere. We can't just keep letting ride the bench we also can't keep 3 catchers! If only Castro didn't have a stupid girl want money from him .. I tell ya greedy people everywhere.

He's not even worth 3-years $20 Million.

But I'd welcome him back for that deal.

LOL hahahha It's party time! :elefant :elefant :beer :afro CANDY BAR and 500 bucks. Wait he won't have enough money for the boat! :confused ehhh who cares

he's the #2 catcher on the free agent market. because of 2003's excellent performance, i can't imagine it being hard for him to get 3 yrs / $25mil from another team.

in the end i think he will come back. he could go for more money elsewhere, but miami really is the best market for him (other than tx). he realizes how comfortable this past year has been: playing ball in the same city he lives in, getting to see his kids all the time, and now being one of the biggest sports celebs in town. i think eventually he'll opt to stay for somewhere between 20 and 25mil.

a lot of people call him greedy, but you have to admit that the guy definitely also has an ego (see: pudge statue and kids' names). next year, he'll be a much bigger star in south florida than he would be anywhere else (save for texas). why give up fame? this really is the ideal spot for him.

but the boat is more important-lol :lol

Look at his stat sheet and restate. you didnt think he was excellent in 2003? a .300 BA and nearly a .400 RISP isnt enough for you, WC? and his defense wasn't gold glove, but it certainly wasn't bad.

any catcher with that combo will command big money.

probably on here somewhere already but this is what insider had to say.

Dec. 3 - According to the Miami Herald, Pudge might be willing to soften his demand for a five-year contract as long as the annual salary is in line with his wishes. The Marlins, who must sign Rodriguez by Sunday or lose negotiating rights, reportedly have made a multi-year offer in the neighborhood of $7.5 million per season, which is still well short of the $10 million Pudge and agent Scott Boras are said to be seeking.

Every day that passes, though closer to Pearl Harbor, seems to give me more confidence. Sign the dotted line so I can apply with peace of mind!

I'm with you on this one. I feel confident that an agreed on principle deal will be announced on thursday/friday.

I just read an article from todays paper saying they offered him 2 years 16 Million.

Their 2004 infield all but constructed, the Marlins on Tuesday shifted their attention behind the plate.

With less than a week to consummate a deal with catcher Pudge Rodriguez, they made their initial pitch. General Manager Admin Beinfest would not reveal the particulars, but an industry source said it was a two-year offer for between $15 million and $16 million.
