Let's Predict what will happens tonigh before 11:59PM. I'm assuming last offer on the table from MArlins is 20/3 years as posted by Marlins2003

I really feel that a deal will get done at around 24 millions for 3 years with no options. Lets see what happens

3 years, $3mil per

I won't vote because I don't think he's anymore greedy than the next superstar...that said he signs for 2yrs 17 million with a club option for a 3rd year. The question is, if he doesn't sign what do we spend his money on? Do we wait until the Castro verdict? Or go for Lopez?

$500 a year + Candy Bar for 3 years

Jah Vee

Jah Vee

Jah Vee

:thumbup

i hope he dosent sign somewhere else...although it looks like he MIGHT...Pudge please stay?...

if he was being reasonable than i would say he would sign for 3 years at $20 million and then add a 4th year option

bullpen!!!

my guess is the javy talk was just a negotiating ploy... imagine how kickass our bullpen could be with another $8 million

Methinks we do not wait for the Castro verdict. It is going to come too late. If Pudge doesn't sign, we need to get aggressive with a replacement. I'm sure the FO is on top of this.

I'm open to suggestions. You know I like Santiago for two year contract. Despite his tenure, his market price can't be that high. Veteran, original Marlin, older, but healthy, smart and still a strong arm (though no longer throwing guys out from his knees). Also Hispanic, with community ties.

Let's get an old man. I like that. And we have Redmond and at least one good minor prospect.

i think hes going to go with the 2 year=20 mill.-bc its 10 mill a year-and he should by now know that he cant get a long contract for a lot of money...

I already posted my specific thoughts but 3yrs/$24 w/deferrals and options for fourth, maybe fifth year.Pudge gets respect, Marlins defer a big slug until after they've paid off Hampton.

If there's no deal I'm in the Javy camp 100%.

Pudge is right. Why should he take a pay cut after every other Marlin is getting a raise? If Pudge was a Cub last year they would have won the series. He also knows the Marlins can not afford a 50 million dollar contract. I think he is looking for along term contract. 3 or 4 years 8 million a year would be fair. I hope he stays in Florida. He would be good for the Cubs. He maybe the key player again for a team. I hope goes out next year with something to prove. Like he did this year. Show everyone you are not to old.Like he proved this year.

because he had one of his worst statistic years ever?

Benny is close to signing with KC

I thought the season is about getting to and winning the W.S.? The Marlins do not make it to the W.S without Pudge. Maybe if he had of stayed in games longer when the Marlins were winning or losing he could have padded his stats. He is a catcher so he leaves some of these games early. So he is rested for the playoffs. 297ba. 85 rbi is not the worst season ever by a catcher. The ballpark is not for homeruns either.

is that worth $10mil?

no.

no. What other catcher had a better year besides Posada and Lopez?

We wouldn't have made it without Braden Looper either.

Let's give him 10 million!

we could have made it without looper...

we could have made it without looper... He was being sarcastic... In some respects.

It's easy to argue that we don't make the playoffs with Looper and you can't win the World Series without making the playoffs.

He DID have 28 saves.

The 10 million was clearly sarcastic.

i knew he was being sarcastic...

it was just funny-give looper 10 mill

no. What other catcher had a better year besides Posada and Lopez? arguably Varitek.

Lieberthal.

Kendall.

still not worhth $10mil though

He is only worth 10 mil if he can get someone to pay him that. I said 3 years at 8 million a year. That deal is fair to both.

still not worhth $10mil though hmm, I wouldn't take any of them over Pudge. Pudge pretty much outperformed all of them offensively and we know what Pudge can do defensively.

And I agree on not worth 10 mill, only due to age.
