December 8, 200322 yr Whatever happens, I'm sure Beinfest has a plan. Remember he had trades for Spivey and Orlando Hudson all but done before coming to terms with Castillo.
December 8, 200322 yr right now the marlins and pudge are $2 million and two years apart. my revised deal would be $9 million for two years, with a team option for year three at $9.5 million and a player option on year four at $9.5 million.
December 8, 200322 yr I won't vote because I don't think he's anymore greedy than the next superstar...that said he signs for 2yrs 17 million with a club option for a 3rd year. The question is, if he doesn't sign what do we spend his money on? Do we wait until the Castro verdict? Or go for Lopez? bullpen!!! my guess is the javy talk was just a negotiating ploy... imagine how kickass our bullpen could be with another $8 million I'd rather use it to ink our big guns (Beckett, Penny, burnett maybe, pavano) to long term deals like the A's did to lock down their big 3.
December 8, 200322 yr Forget Pudge, I think we can go after Lopez and get him for less $$ then Pudge wants, and use some of that $$ on bullpen too.
December 8, 200322 yr if it's any higher than 3-24, the Marlins caved. can't blame them for wanting to keep it at 2 years.
