As good as Bumgarner is, the short rest penalty is huge for any pitcher. Combine that with the fact that it will be the third time the Royals see him and I think Bochy is making the right move. Have MadBum in the bullpen ready to go if needed, but give Hudson the start. That being said, Petit probably should have started last night's game, although he didn't look great either.
