August 4, 201511 yr Author Ok. 1 yr for 16 million. It's not likely that Latos would get less than that elsewhere. It's certainly a risk that a team raking in the revenue sharing money and last in payroll can take.
August 4, 201511 yr Author Exactly. Then we would wind up getting a high pick from the team that Latos signed with. Plus, the compensatory pick we traded away so the Dodgers would take Morse. It is just revolting how cheap this team is. And they want me to spend my good earned money to buy tickets to watch this circus? No thanks.

No thanks. thats not how it works. you would get a pick at the end of the first round. the team signing latos would have just lost their pick, you dont get that teams pick anymore. that changed 3 years ago (at least I think)
August 5, 201511 yr I was highly satisfied with our moves this offseason. I was one of the homers pulling for a Morse signing honestly, BUT I dont agree with the way we allow ourselves to get played when we trade our players. As a business man myself, when negotiating you hold firm and dont pull the trigger even if nothing gets done. Thats how you gain respect, and the next time they come to you they come with the mentality to come ready to pay big. But if you budge everytime, you'll never build the respect to maximize your returns. Look at the Devil Rays for example.
