First Time Visitor - A Couple Of Questions

Featured Replies

Hi,

Firstly, I hope this is the correct place to ask these questions. If it isn't please let me know and I will go there.

A friend of mine and I are visiting Miami next month and we thought we'd take in a game, probably the one on Wednesday 5 September against the Phillies. So the questions are:

1. We're staying in South Beach. What are the best transport options to and from the ground? We don't want to drive because...

2. ..we want to drink beer. Which are the best pre and post-match pubs near the ground?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, best mode of transportation is uber or lyft. There are free shuttles but I do not believe they extend to the beach. As for pubs, best bet for you is the head back to the beach and go to finnegans. However, if you want to stick around the stadium for a bit you can go to the Clevelander that is in the stadium or the 5th base that opened up on the side of the stadium (they only serve beer and wine though). Now if you're looking to explore, you have a few bars in coconut grove, The Bar in Coral Gables, and Churchill's north of the stadium. I hope that helps.

I'd uber to be honest, it'll probably be a $20 uber ride or something. I work on the beach, and if you WERE to drive it's maybe 20 minutes.

I'd uber and just eat the cost. To park is $20 too, so why risk it.

There aren't many other options to and from the park into the beach area.

Uber or Lyft is definitely the best way to get there for you.

I highly recommend Sushi Samba on Lincoln Rd (Brazilian/Japanese fusion).  Sit outside if it’s not too hot. Great people watching.

I don't personally have any help as I haven't lived in the area since the ballpark got built, but the others here have already given good info and will continue to do so.

I hope your ballpark experience is good and enjoyable! ?

A belated thanks to all of you for your suggestions. Uber and beers it is then. See you next month.

Word of advise, if the Macarthur bridge is still under construction- I'd plan to leave the beach earlier. It's taken me 25 minutes to move down alton road lately. It should be finished late August however.

There are no pubs or bars right around the stadium other than those connected with the stadium. Somebody mentioned the Clevelander and then there is a big tent like structure (Fifth Base) on the other side of the stadium.  These places are open before and after the game.  But, for a weeknight game the attendance will probably be very poor so there won't be many people in those bars.  If you're looking to have fun pre and post game, you'd be better off on the Beach.

Actually, there is a craft brewery built into one of the parking garages, I found that out the other day on twitter. its on the first floor of the HomePlate garage.

There's also the batting cage bar right down the street from the ballpark. The service is terrible and it's a weird atmosphere, but it's an option if you really want a place walkable from Marlins Park.

Imagine a batting cage bar being the only option within walking distance from a relatively new Major League Baseball park.
