Miami says no to land or money to help build stadi

Featured Replies

My solution right now to keep the team in Dade County is to go to Hialeah, whose voters approved a new ballpark in 2000's elections, and ask them to help with donating Hialeah Park or another property and issue some bonds. Hialeah can do this because they have good credit.

Now, Hialeah Park is very convenient to all the major highways and like all of South Florida has traffic congestion, but it is better than nothing. Hialeah Park is also within walking distance to MetroRail.

Hey guys, I wrote a letter to all these dirtbags, here it is...

Dear Sirs,

From reading the papers, I can see the writing on the wall that there is no way the Marlins will be getting a new stadium. I guess some of the fanfare and limelight have died down, and since there isn't a nice little parade, and a TV camera in your face for a nice little sound bite, you have no real obligation to help out a sports team that unlike others in this area, seems to have kept their word about keeping a competitive product in order to secure a stadium deal, unlike others in the area. I find it really ridiculous that the city of Miami was all too willing to dole out money to build a stadium not two city blocks from the perfectly good stadium it was replacing. By the way, I am still waiting for the soccer fields and park that was going to be built by the arena. Now do not get me wrong, I see the issues with public financing, but the problem I have is the fact that when the cameras were on at the end of the season, you were all too willing to make promises and statements like "If we build it will you come?? but now you have done a complete 180 when it comes to financing. Shame on you Gentlemen, shame on you for hamming it up to the camera for votes, for needlessly inflating the hopes of the Florida Marlins organization, and true baseball fans and VOTERS.

Sincerely,

Great job, those corrupt politicos got told.

What a fricking low blow by the Political mafia of Miami.

"If we build it, would you come?" -- Manny Diaz, Ariola and co are a bunch of clowns and crooks!

Hear my words, the deal breaker here is that the Marlins wanted to control construction and be responsible for cost overuns. That translate into lower opportunity for this Politicos to steel money. On a project of this magnitute it is easy to make disapear 10-30 millions and call it "unseen or un-projected expenses. . . ."

The Marlins got the short stick, for playing it right and being willing to carry the burden for cost overuns.

F*CK the City Miami, I will avoid the Bay side, the Miami arena and everything that is related to that damned city like a plague!

Now we need someone (hopefuly from South Florida) to step up and saves the day!

agreed totally. No cookie pot to put thier hand into.

I wonder if the Marlins are able to continue winning and get enough attendance back if they can form some leverage to get a better lease at PPS and eventually move on to build their stadium privately.

Loria better get more partners, sponsors, and support from the area. People need to come out and denounce the politicos and media in Miami for being crooks and invalids.

Mr. Loria, if you need to have the team play at Roger Dean with 30,000 bleachers added to sustain this team, do it. Keep on doing what you are doing and the rest will come.

To those who do good, good comes.

way to go man!

There's still the state option. Twenty to fourty years of expedited rebate payments, along with private investors could provide enough money for the stadium that might help convince the city to pay for the land. If not there are other places in the county that might, especially with full funding for the stadium.
