Just got back from the ballpark, was surprised how popular the orange hat was. The M is huge, people in the line were joking, calling it a Mario hat. I was looking to get the franchise model with the smaller M, but they didn't have it.

Not a fan. Although like others on the board, my dislike is the actual logo more than the uniforms.

Samson wouldn't deny that this was the logo. He said he wouldn't say anything until 11/11.

The sun sentinel has an interview with Samson on the web in which he says the naming rights are "in the eighth inning" and he "guarantees" it will be done in June.

I also couldn't imagine they make an announcement while the team is on the road, I figure they would want players there. So I think they will miss another deadline.

I would figure they would make an "announcement " before the announcement, to let everyone know about a press conference, I doubt they would just press release it. I wonder if Samson didn't shoot his mouth off again, giving another "deadline" like he did with opening day, only to backtrack.

Usually I do about 25, this year I got a 28 game plan, so between those games and any extras I go to because of match ups I'll probably do a few more than 30. Next year we have full season, and I'm psyched about that.

Iv always liked Bacardi, imagine a HUGE Bacardi Bottle lite up at night in outer field, with all the palm trees and the miami skyline,just seems to go so well with miami and florida. and and and when Red Grooms' monstrosity comes out, rum will shoot out of the sides and soak the seats around it! I'm crossing my fingers that the drawing is a goof or just a first proposal that got canned. When my Rep described it, he just said a giant Marlin, not a picture of Biscayne Bay on acid. Now I understand that a Rep is just the low man on the totem pole, but I'm hoping the final product doesn't look like that, as I will be sitting directly next to it.

Who pays for that when it happens, Loria or the taxpayers? Local taxpayers aren't paying for anything other than through their purchase of tickets should they choose to buy one or more. Part (1% of 6%) of the Miami-Dade hotel bed tax (paid almost exclusively by tourists) is dedicated to retiring the M-D bond debt. Without reading the contracts, I'll guess that since M-D owns it, if Loria wants to unilaterally change something he gets to pay for the change, assuming that he has the right to do it or can get agreement. The Marlins are merely the operator of the stadium, not necessarily the arbiter of what will happen if they don't like this or that feature. Any major or even minor change would probably be the subject of negotiation with M-D for approval with the Marlins footing all or most of the cost. I think you might be wrong about that one. I believe the hr celebration and the orange bowl letters outside are paid for by the art in public places trust fund, I don't think that is funded by the hotel tax, although it may come from the project budget, in which case you would be right. I had a hard time tracking down where the money in the trust came from

Just finshed up our tour of the new sales center and found out that the HR celebration is going to be a large mechanical marlin that "jumps" 65 feet above the cf pool. I knew that there was going to be a celebration, but this was the first I heard of this.
