The Modern Era Committee selected both men for induction into Cooperstown tonight

Don Mattingly, Dwight Evans, and Lou Whitaker were on the ballot but did not get selected.

On a side note, what the hell is this white stuff falling down on my screen. I've lived in Florida my whole life so I've never seen anything like it!

Saw Steve Harvey trending #1 on Twitter, but for some reason read it as Steve Garvey. Was kind of hoping to see a bunch of Dodgers and Padres fans bitching that Garvey did not get in. But alas...

Insane. Tommy John has a surgery named after him and pitched till he was like 50. Dale Murphy, Dwight Evans, and Donnie Baseball all deserve to be in after Harold Baines was picked last year. Crazy.

I'm not saying make it easy and let everyone get in but the more I think about it the more I think the MLB Hall of Fame is *too* strict. They take themselves a little too seriously. Baseball is still just a game, why is Hall of Fame no fun, so to speak.

I know they are trying to keep it elite but some of the people who haven't gotten in it's kinda laughable and it feels like a dick move to say certain people were "great but not that great."

Again, I'm not saying open it up to just anyone, I'm more thinking about those really close borderline names that just barely don't make the cut, if the argument is that close they probably do deserve to get it. Feels like splitting hairs on those names.

Ted Simmons induction is so fucking long overdue, one of the greater injustices that has happened.

Should have been in ages before Gary Carter.
