People would see that Benitez is one of the better closers in baseball if they look at the numbers and not what was written about him(mostly by the NY media). He's got a career 85% save percentage, and even in a "poor" season last year had a sub 3 ERA and held opponents to a .218 average (compared to Looper's .263).

Benitez is definitely an upgrade from Looper.
