December 21, 200322 yr i thought that once a team non-tendered a player, they could no longer bid for their services.
December 21, 200322 yr Athletics agreed to terms with LHP Mark Redman on a three-year contract with a mutual option for 2007. It may not have been a good idea for the A's to give Redman a three-year deal, but he'll be with another team by 2006. In 2004, they'll use him as their fourth starter. He'll probably be worth $8-$10 in AL-only leagues. /rotoworld

December 21, 200322 yr very interesting.... I thought the same thing as Fishin2004 Guess I thought wrong too then. Contracts are confusing
December 21, 200322 yr Author that was for free agents not offered Arbritration. players who the team owns the rights to can non tender then bid along with the rest of the teams in the league. much like the Marlins can still make Loop and Borland offers if they really want to ( not likely ) hope that explains
December 21, 200322 yr Congrats to Mark. I wish him great success with the A's. Agreed Good Luck and Congrats Big Red

Thanks for clearing that up. And yeah, congrats and good luck to Big Red. Thanks for your contributions last season.
December 22, 200322 yr If we don't get a PTBNL in the deal I think Beinfest got played. Mark Redman got about the same amount of money he would have gotten through arbitration. The reason he was probably non-tendered was to save the PTBNL and send cash instead.

And that is getting played how?
December 22, 200322 yr Juanky why do you think the A's non-tendered him? By the way Neu is nothing more than another Nate Bump in the bullpen its not like we got Gagne.
December 22, 200322 yr Juanky why do you think the A's non-tendered him? By the way Neu is nothing more than another Nate Bump in the bullpen its not like we got Gagne. I'd rather have another Nate Bump (a reliable reliever) than a sixth starter.
December 22, 200322 yr Juanky why do you think the A's non-tendered him? By the way Neu is nothing more than another Nate Bump in the bullpen its not like we got Gagne. First off, Neu is going to blow you away. Trust me on this one. Second of all, we got Neu, and we got money. We weren't going to sign Red anyways. I repeat, how did we get played?
December 22, 200322 yr I'd rather have another Nate Bump (a reliable reliever) than a sixth starter. Why we have alot of Bumps already in the bullpen in Phelps, Tejera, Neal, Sanders, etc. I'll take Redman anyday over these guys. First off, Neu is going to blow you away. Trust me on this one. Second of all, we got Neu, and we got money. We weren't going to sign Red anyways. I repeat, how did we get played? I guess it all depends on the money. If it is around 50,000 to 100,000 I would much rather have the PTBNL.

December 22, 200322 yr Neu is better than anyone of the guys you just named. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=7094 What is it you guys like about Neu much is it his more walks than strikeouts, his high W.H.I.P, or his stuff which is best pitch change-up and high 80's heat. Unless he's a poor's man Keith Foulke im not impressed.
December 22, 200322 yr the guy is young... he dominated the minor leagues like he was possessed... how about you watch him before you judge.....
December 22, 200322 yr the guy is young... he dominated the minor leagues like he was possessed... how about you watch him before you judge..... Alright but some of you guys act like he is going to be the next big thing for us when we haven't seen him pitch much. I'll stop if you guys stop hyping him up before you see him pitch in a Marlins uniform.
