the guy is young... he dominated the minor leagues like he was possessed... how about you watch him before you judge..... Alright but some of you guys act like he is going to be the next big thing for us when we haven't seen him pitch much. I'll stop if you guys stop hyping him up before you see him pitch in a Marlins uniform.

Neu is better than anyone of the guys you just named. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=7094 What is it you guys like about Neu much is it his more walks than strikeouts, his high W.H.I.P, or his stuff which is best pitch change-up and high 80's heat. Unless he's a poor's man Keith Foulke im not impressed.

I'd rather have another Nate Bump (a reliable reliever) than a sixth starter. Why we have alot of Bumps already in the bullpen in Phelps, Tejera, Neal, Sanders, etc. I'll take Redman anyday over these guys. First off, Neu is going to blow you away. Trust me on this one. Second of all, we got Neu, and we got money. We weren't going to sign Red anyways. I repeat, how did we get played? I guess it all depends on the money. If it is around 50,000 to 100,000 I would much rather have the PTBNL.

Juanky why do you think the A's non-tendered him? By the way Neu is nothing more than another Nate Bump in the bullpen its not like we got Gagne.

If we don't get a PTBNL in the deal I think Beinfest got played. Mark Redman got about the same amount of money he would have gotten through arbitration. The reason he was probably non-tendered was to save the PTBNL and send cash instead.
  6. MarlinGm replied to KJC's topic in Miami Marlins
Does that mean we are getting a PTBNL in the deal?
  7. about 30-25 saves with 5-7 blown would be nice. You mean dissapointing right?
  8. Ramp can you post your projected 2004 payroll with how much each player is making.
  9. I think Baez is a real option. Saurbeck is going to be a Cub, I think a deal has been worked out between the two sides, at least that's what the ESPN board was saying, but I agree, if he's available, he is a MUST with Thome/Abreu/JD Drew/Floyd all in the NL East, we need a lefty specialist... He can sign with the Cubs but he won't get traded to them because he was non-tendered a contract today by the Red Sox's
  10. Make it happen Loria.
  11. Bullpen as of right now should be. Armando Benitez Chad Fox A.J Burnett-should do the Morris for a year IMO Mike Neu ???? ???? ???? ???? I would for these spots to be filled with a package of the following. Scott Sauerbeck-is a must for me Matt Mantei-slim to zero chance but with him in our pen will be just as good as the Phillies Scott Williamson Byung-Hyun Kim-maybe to expensive Braden Looper-at 2mil but nothing more Frank Gracesqui-lefty in our system might be ready Mike Flannery-righty in our sytem don't think is ready Terry Adams Mike Dejean Danys Baez-versatile and will welcome a fellow Cuban who can pitch on my team
  12. Damn 3.5 seems like alot of money for Benitez. Oh well better give it to Benitez than Looper. Now I hope Benitez wins the Rolaids relief award and that we sign a couple more relivers.
  13. Going to get a heart attack if this is true which I don't but peolpe in the ESPN boards are sure Penny was non-tendered a contract by the Marlins.
  14. Looper carried a 2.28 ERA to the All-Star break, so he does have potential. He faded in the 2nd half....the 2 blown saves against Atlanta were terrible. But he does have a very lively fastball in the high 90s when he is on. I would rather see him in a set-up role and would like to see a strong closer added to the pen. I'll give Looper that he is solid and has a high 90s fastball but his control is horrible and he only has a fastball. He is nothing more than a middle reliver and since were not the Red Sox or Yankees we souldn't pay 3 mil for a middle reliver.
  15. you are obviously a bandwagoner because you must have only watched the marlins in september and the playoffs. No im not I have been watching the Marlins and going to games since the 1997 team won the World Series. Look at Looper stats and tell me if he has ever been dominating http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?statsId=5966 IMO Looper is just a better version of Alfonseca who I use to hate more than Looper.
  16. QUOTE (MarlinGm @ Dec 20 2003, 11:43 PM) CODE I would want him back. If he can work on his control and work on other pitches other than his fastball. He has a great, fast moving fastball but no breaking pitch thats good enough. He gets hit very hard when he keeps repeating his pitches also. This guy is going to be thirty already im tired of hearing the potential he has if he works on other pitches. I want people who can pitch now and have the ability to be dominant throughout the whole year. so you want him to keep on blowing saves? Hitters will adapt to the fastballs. No im just saying he sucks and I don't want him back for anything more than 2mil.
  17. Byung-Hyun Kim, Scott Williamson, Armando Benitez, Danys Baez, Matt Mantei, Jeff Nelson, Terry Adams(to a lesser extent) have proven that they can be dominant before. Looper has never.

  19. Posted on Dec 20 2003, 11:15 PM Mantei is available? Available via trade and I forgot to add Scott Strickland to the people who I'll take over Looper.
  20. How many of you guys want him back for the 3 - 3.5 mil he is likely to get through arbitration? I for one will only want him back if he accepts a contract for 2 or less. With options out there such as Terry Adams, Mike Dejean, Jeff Nelson, Dave Veres, Matt Mantei, Scott Williamosn, Byung-Hyun Kim, Armando, and Danys Baez it will be stupid to overpay for Looper.
  21. I'll be trilled if on opening day Scott Sauerbeck and Frank Gracesqui are our lefties in the pen.
  22. I got a better idea how about Scott Sauerbeck who was non tendered a contract today. I believe this guy is a must sign for the Marlins lets say for 1.5 mil?
  23. Well if we do get Doug its going to be via trade. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  24. I would rather sign Doug Mientkiewicz for 2 mil if he is non-tendered than Simon. Mientkiewicz is a lefty who gets on base alot with gold glove abilty and a line drive swing which is perfect for PPS.
