  1. Assuming he has similiar statistics to last season, Cabrera will get no less than $6M next season and probably closer to $7M. He can compare himself to what guys like Pujols and Teixeira made at the same point of their careers.
  2. That number is accurate. I saw it broken down on a chart. Doesn't figure $48 million for Delgado, just the part the Mets are paying ($41 million).
  3. Olivo would have to be a total flop not to be the starting catcher. The Marlins didn't spend $700,000 on him to be a backup.
  4. Marlins are not getting a player back. Leiter officially traded for a PTBNL or cash considerations. They already got the cash.
  5. If Burnett helps the Marlins win another World Series THIS year, who gives a hoot where he's pitching NEXT year. Why start thinking about '06 and beyond when Burnett is one of the aces you need to win the title in '05? If the Marlins are in contention, Burnett isn't going anywhere. Plus, why would a team like Oakland or anyone else take him if Burnett is set on testing the market? The Marlins have to ride Burnett to the playoffs and whatever happens after that, so be it.
  6. Who's to say the Marlins are going to put their revenue sharing money back into payroll? Maybe that money is already allocated for the new ballpark project.
  7. Anyone notice the Pirates were playing the infield in? Harris would have been out my a mile.
  8. Dude, you need to chill out. I never read in the S-S that Rick Reed was signing with the Marlins. What I read was they offered him a one-year contract. He chose to play closer to home. What's so inaccurate about that? Try reading a little more carefully. By the way, the Marlins were also at their payroll limit before they signed Pudge last year.
  9. Sauerbeck needs shoulder surgery. He's not signing with anyone.
  10. What was so great about those articles? No original material whatsoever.
  11. Any new ballpark without a retractable roof isn't worth it. Marlins would still have the same weather-related problems they've spent years moaning about.
  12. Actually, Juan is no longer in the organization. He is a six-year, minor-league free agent and likely will sign elsewhere.
  13. Team announced it at midnight. not on the wire yet
