December 31, 200322 yr New member here, I've been reading up on this guy name juan alvarez and with him being a left handed pitcher why hasn't he been mentioned by anyone on this board. He looked pretty good in spring training, and he put up pretty solid numbers for the marlins this year. So whats up with him is he injured or not under contract with the team anymore or something. Can someone give me some info on this guy.
December 31, 200322 yr Juan Alvarez is still in the Marlins organization in our AAA team, the Isotopes. He'll probably stay there...

December 31, 200322 yr Marlingirl ---- Accepted early decision to MIT??? That is absolutely outstanding. Congratulations!! Your must have worked hard and it has paid off! :balloons :cheers :teach
January 1, 200422 yr Wouldn't want to push him too far too fast...but he does look like a pretty good kid.
January 1, 200422 yr Wouldn't want to push him too far too fast...but he does look like a pretty good kid. He is already 31 years old. How much slower do you think they should move him up? What do you think they should wait until he is 40 to move him up?

January 1, 200422 yr hey, if he can contribute at all next season, then who cares how old he is. I mean, he isnt the future of the organization, but if he can give us some relief innings, and keep his ERA under 4.50 or so, then he'd be better than our lefty from last season (not counting tejera), Almanza.

January 3, 200422 yr Actually, Juan is no longer in the organization. He is a six-year, minor-league free agent and likely will sign elsewhere.
