Orange Bowl Site

Featured Replies

The OB and its surroundings suck, especialy the parking. Bathroom at the place suck, and there is no decent places to eat. UM is not benefiting much either due to luxury boxes, etc etc.

For the place to work, it must endure serious modifications. I believe this could be done, while keeping the character of the building as much as posible.

Let's keep our mind opens and see what they propose.

My only gripe about the Orange Bowl is it needs more concessions. The bathrooms are ok but need to be improved much more. Yes, serious modifications can be done without changing the character of the building...

The bathrooms are ok???

Yeah to walk by - try using them!

Here are my bad things about the OB:

No parking

Horrendous traffic

Too old

No room near concessions(easily overflows)

No chairbacks

Really really bad bathrooms

No jumbotorn

No luxury boxes

No stairs- just ramps

Bad neighborhood

It is a dump. A renovation would work but it has to happen.

I have season tickets Miami15, I KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE!

Chairbacks, why don't you go buy one of them, there available...

Why do you want stairs, ramps are easier...

It is not in a bad neighborhood...JRS is...

No Parking? Why don't you donate a little money and get a parking pass...

Other than that everything is preatty true...

Do you go to a football game to get hotdogs, or use the restroom, or look at the jumbotron? I don't know about you, but when I go to the ob I go to watch a football game. No other stadium on earth is better in terms of seeing the game.

Tropical Park and PPS?

I go to a game to watch baseball or football for that matter, but the OB is a dump, buddy.

It is good to watch football, but it is a dump.

Try to take a small kid to one of those bathrooms.

this whole debate about whether or not the OB is great depends on what sport

great for football, because it has seen so much history, so fun to watch a game, and you only have to make like 6-8 trips a year

a baseball game at the OB would be fun, but not a baseball season. every great modern ballpark is fan friendly, family friendly, and actually modern, all of which the ob is not

I just can't help but wonder why does it have to be the OB site. I agree better there than nowhere, but just hope someone else will enter the fray to work out a better deal.

I guess the FO has a tunnel vision of the ballpark being in the Downtown area. And Miami is not offering other choices.

I don't know if it's tunnel vision or not...it's looks to me to be the only choice. I think that most of us, especially the Marlins, would like someone else to enter the fray.

Renovate it. I hate seeing historical buildings get torned down.

learn english. The orange bowl is historical? I bet that the president would speak otherwise.

learn english. The orange bowl is historical? I bet that the president would speak otherwise. Yes it's historical. Stop being a jerk. Then again everyone is an a** with me because I am a fan of the man everyone hates. Get over it and grow up.

Historical sites: The Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial, The White House, The Orange Bowl?

Yes, it has had a lot of good football games, but the place isn't a national landmark. Besides, if they knock the thing down, are all your memories of all those great football games going to go away? No. Why do you need a football stadium to remember them? You do have a brain, don't you?

I never said it was a national landmark. It's a CITYWIDE historical building.

At least we are now in the same universe

Look, go pick on the others who have said the same I did about the OB. I am not in the mood right now. I have had a f***ing rough day today...and it's f***ing Christmas Eve for goodness sake. I am just not up for it. I came here to read about some baseball stuff and get my mind off of things. Just leave me alone.

Honestly, I don't like the idea of sharing a stadium with the Canes. I see similar problems for us in the future like we have now and the stadium issue will show up in 10-15 years from now with an even higher price.

Why can't we try to get that $200 million stadium without a roof at another site and leave the possibility for adding a roof later? That is something that should be considered.

Also, I think the fact that the actual Orange Bowl isn't played at the Orange Bowl anymore makes the stadium lose a lot of it's tradition and historical value. If they moved the Orange Bowl site so easily to Pro Player Stadium why would there be a big argument over tearing down the Orange Bowl itself?

the problems that we have now are not with the stadium- in fact, i love pps, but in order to make positive numbers, we must move out, because of wayne's horrible lease. Either that or someone assassanates (or however it's spelled) wayne.

The stadium does have problems, regardless of Wayne. It's not meant for baseball, the site lines in a lot of the stadium is very bad and your view is constantly blocked by people walking up and down the isles. This is in addition to the fact that Wayne ends up with all the money. Sharing a stadium might cause a lot of the same problems with site lines and with the income. Instead of having the full income of the stadium going to the Marlins there might have to be some sharing with the Canes. It may not be a problem at first but who knows what situation might arise in the future.
