It's not like the stances of either side is going to change any at this point be it Decmeber 1, December 2, December 20, January 4, January 15 et al. Maybe when we start to look at missing some of Spring Training one side will blink. Maybe when the start of the regular season is upon us a side might blink. Maybe not. The gap between how much owners receive v players hasnt been this fucking giant since Curt Flood ushered in the Free Agency era.

The time away is good because neither side is saying "well we tried but the other side doesn't want to do this!" and the media reporting it every other day. The divide can close a little bit with the time away without all the vitriol being thrown around. Or perhaps we are truly too far gone and part of the season is lost, we'll see.
