From 4 over .500 to 5 under .500

A starting line-up with Cooper leading off and includes Gonzalez and Dunand while De La Cruz sits?

An apparent lack of depth with Wendle, Jazz, Rojaz, Berti all not playing

Glaring needs in a CFer and a closer not resolved

A line-up full of similar hitters who don't understand situational hitting and constantly fail with RISP

A decent starting rotation that will be wasted.

A cheap owner who refuses to get top of the line free agents and goes after cheaper and less productive options.

A GM that doesn't seem able to make the right decisions and actively make changes as needed

A manager who is sleepwalking, is unable to motivate players and needs to be fired.

 

This team needs change and is unwilling to do anything to improve the product.  Outside of Jazz and Wendle, this offense needs an overhaul.  I'm ready to move on from Sanchez, Rojas, Aggy, Cooper, Anderson, Soler and Avi.   We have too many of the same type of hitter in this weak line-up and that's on Sherman and Ng for going after cheaper players and not being able to evaluate hitters.  Too often this season, I keep thinking after almost 30 years, do i still want to be a fan? Or do I become one of those who will show up again if the team ever makes playoffs again and save myself time and aggravation?  

In 20+ years of watching marlins baseball, I’ve never been less engaged with a team than this one

I know it might sound weird given some of the tank seasons we’ve been through recently. At least during rebuild years, there were no expectations and prospects to watch/visualize how they could fit into the next competitive team. 

This organization has completely failed the next step of the rebuild. They’ve completely failed to build a team that compliments each other. From the manager, to the offseason acquisition, quite frankly the entire philosophy on how to put together a lineup/offensive approach. Say what you want about the shortened season, that team worked because we ran the crap out of the bases, we pitched well, and we played really good defense. We didn’t have sluggers, so we stole bases. We got on base. That team was fun, although not super talented. They immediately went way away from that with acquisitions such as Dickerson, Duvall, Soler, Garcia, etc. You acquire 3rd tier sluggers, you get a 3rd tier offense. And a stagnant, boring offense that doesn’t excite anyone in that dugout (or fans) 

I usually watch between 100-120 full games a year. But this year, I can’t help but watch without being insanely frustrated. Outside of Jazz, there’s nothing fun about this team. Tonight was the perfect example. Jesus Sanchez who shouldn’t be in CF causes an inside the park HR, followed up by a Harold Ramirez who never should’ve been cut in favor of Lewis freaking Brinson. 

Bad decisions on bad decisions and this is the result. Hopefully the next GM/Manager get it right. Until then

Yep.  An offense that struggles to score runs should be stealing bases, doing hit and run, moving runners over and trying to make things happen by putting players in motion.   Don doesn't encourage that; he does nothing to get results from his players.... So many times the Marlins are down by a run late with a runner on first and a ground-out machine at the plate and the rally ends with a double play and a 1 run loss....

Yes, some of that falls on Don. Without a doubt. But it’s also the type of players they acquire/way they develop them. You see the same thing up and down our minor league system. “Tools” players with crazy high K rates and no ability to execute the fundamentals. Don is apart of the problem, but it’s also the roster construction/philosophy

I know some people are going to read this and give the “oh you’re being dramatic, it’s May, we only need this and this, etc.” But I completely agree. This team is redundant to the point of being unwatchable. I’d rather watch replays of the Ricky Nolasco, Cody Ross, Dan Uggla, Jorge Cantu teams. We’re they great? Hell no. But they were a hell of a lot more entertaining than this group.

 If you’re losing fans in this community of all places, good luck.

This.  The current rebuild is a disaster because they focused way too much on pitching and not on hitting.  We shoulda had a big bat produced thru the farm system by now (drafted, not acquired like Jazz) since SHerman / Jeter got the team ... Where's our Wander Franco, Julio Rodriguez ,etc...?

He’s in AAA hitting .200 with a sub .800 ops at 24. Meanwhile, CJ Abrams and Riley Greene, the HS prospects, are going to beat him to the show
