July 6, 20233 yr ESPN just put out a new list of their power rankings. They have us at #10..... Here are the top 10: 1) Braves 58-28 (.674) 2) Rays 57-32 (.640) 3) Rangers 51-36 (.586) 4) Astros 49-38 (.563) 5) D'backs 50-37 (.575) 6) Dodgers 48-38 (.558) 7) Orioles 50-35 (.588) 8) Yankees 48-39 (.552) 9) Blue Jays 46-40 (.535) 10) Marlins 51-37 (.580) Gotta love the "Marlins effect" of how there are 5 teams ahead of us with worse records, we have anywhere from 1-5 more wins than teams #4-9, we have 1 more win (but 2 more losses) than the #7 Orioles.....and we're only 1 loss behind the #3 Rangers. Most notably, they have the Blue Jays above us, despite being just 6 over, vs our 14 over. But ranked 10th... Edited July 6, 20233 yr by rmc523
July 6, 20233 yr The Marlins are better than the Yankees, Blue Jays, Dodgers, and Diamondbacks. The rest of the teams are probably better than the Marlins right now, and that's fine.
July 6, 20233 yr Probably getting swept by the Braves was fresh on their minds when they made those rankings. Maybe winning 1-2 games over the weekend would have moved the Marlins up a spot or two. Either way I don’t really care all that much about ESPN rankings, it’s ESPN, they’re biased af, it’s always been that way. I remember discussing similar topic on a Marlins forum like back on ‘04. 😂 20 years on, same shit. Marlins could have the best record in MLB and ESPN would still rank them behind the Braves and Rays since they would reason that the Braves have better team offense numbers or something. 😂 Edited July 6, 20233 yr by SirFishFan

Just saw it and thought it was interesting. The Athletic's rankings have had them higher than ESPN's, IIRC.
July 6, 20233 yr I used to never look at these rankings articles but at this point I now look cuz it's always a great chuckle to see them awkwardly trying to avoid giving the Marlins any credit.
