You should have added a caveat that answers and guessing have to be off the top of your head otherwise anyone could probably find the answers in less than a minute on a search engine.

So with that being said I will try to answer this with honesty and integrity and say I have no idea about any of the answers. I can only make a guess and try to see if I remember hearing about any of that at sometime in the past 20+ years of being a Marlins fan.

For Question #3 I’m thinking either Todd Helton or Andres Galaraga(probably messed up the spelling).. but it’s tricky could be Charlie Blackmon.

My Final Answer will be Andres G. 😂

For question 5 it’s bugging me because I knew the answer at one point.. and because I don’t want to cheat and look it up.. ugh.. I know it was a veteran pitcher who had been around for while in MLB.. but dang.. the name escapes me.. Brian Harvey is popping up from memory but part of me thinks he was a closer.. I’m trying to remember memories of watching that opening day game on YouTube.. Chuck Carr is a name that comes to mind but he wasn’t a pitcher. Ugh.. I can’t remember.. but I won’t look it up and post the answer to maintain the integrity of the trivia game. I mean I’ll look it up, but won’t post the answer now that I’ve officially given up.

Be right back..

Ok I’m back.. ugh that name escaped me.. but yeah.

Great idea for the trivia game!

Wait a minute.. on that question you said longest HR hit by a Rockies player in “Marlins Park”. By that are you referring to loanDepot park or also including Pro Player Stadium/5 other names of that same place?

Because if you’re only talking about Marlins park/loanDepot park I have no idea. Maybe Charlie Blackmon.

Wouldn't this be John Lynch the football player?

Spring training doesn't count

Charlie Hough is too easy of an answer, I'm thinking the original question is asking of the first game in the entire organization's history.

He was being kind so everyone could feel good about themselves.

We all know about Lynch too so either/or I guess

Why wait any longer.  Round 2 will be posted after this completion.

SUMMARY:  This sad fan base scored pretty low as a collective unit.  The brainiac of the bunch was Piazza31 with 2 correct answers, (WOW). But I had to shrug Piazza off like a pitcher with his sitcom antics. The hardest question answered was by Hovertical, a great guess for someone who peeks into other phones that don’t belong to him.  SilverBullet, more like RustBullet and SirFishFan did a lot of talkin and not a lot of walkin.  On a serious note you guys did ok.

BOX SCORE: 3 out of 5

ANSWERS: 1) Bryan Harvey.  Braves needed a closer but the Marlins declined thinking team chemistry with Harvey’s leadership was the right move.  Ouch!!

You can YouTube it “Miami Marlins A great beginning”.  It’s 60 min but better than watching marlins baseball.

2) Cliff Floyd broke his arm when he extended it past the first base line on an errand throw to first. The runner ran through the arm and it snapped & broke. All these questions/answers are from memory I didn’t look them up.  If I remember his arm was nearly severed in half.

3) Andres Galaraga  I looked up the distance it was originally 573ft and then changed 529ft.

4) Matt Mantei  I also thought they said this guy was the next great closer.  Looks are deceiving.

5) Charlie Hough I only remember this gizzard because he looked like an old farmer from Iowa

Round 2 will be posted shortly. @SilverBullet @hovertical @SirFishFan @Piazza31

What’s up with the roasting, man?

Well.. to be fair.. if you would have asked me these questions back in like 2006-2010, I probably would have gotten at least 3/5 off the top of my head.. that was the height of my Marlins fandom those years.. where I lived and breathed Marlins baseball and would faithfully sit there every night almost and watch every pitch of every game for 3+ hours a day. Well I’ve been a fan since the beginning of ‘03 (I always like to clarify I officially became a Marlins fan in the beginning of the 2003 season.. not after the WS like so many bandwagoners. My first Marlins game was early May of 03 a couple of weeks before Jeff Tourborg was fired and Jack McKeon hired.) Was a very fortuitous time to become a Marlins fan!

But yeah, to be honest I basically stopped watching baseball and following the Marlins around 2011/2012 until the COVID time in 2020 when I had some free time stuck in the house and decided to get back into baseball. And of course the Marlins made the playoffs that year so another fortuitous time to pick up watching the Marlins again! Of course since that 2020 season things have gone on a downward slope for the Marlins as usual or I should say like the same pattern repeating itself over and over. At this point I’m just a Marlins fan for ceremonial purposes.. just mainly because of sentimental value and memories of those fun years being a Marlins fanatic when I was a youngster in the mid 2000’s. But yeah.. I’m just here on this forum for the jokes and stuff. But in reality I haven’t really even watched a full Marlins game since maybe May or even April.

So surprised even myself I got the Galaraga answer correct. I probably learned about that tidbit back in like maybe 2006-07 and saw a highlight from that game that happened sometimes in the 90’s I guess, surprised it was still in my memory somewhere. 😂

The roasting is for laughs but I thought it necessary by provoking some competitive competition and draw some more players in 😆

I know you are very knowledgeable, more  than I.   I’ll try and level the playing field with all eras.

The only one I didn't know was the Chipper thing. I had never heard that in all my years as a fan. I just answered the one question about Mantei since nobody else had and didn't want to hog the whole thread.

Roast away!
