Placeholder Gillispie vs the good Luis Castillo

Former Marlins farmhand Castillo goes against placeholder and future Marlins footnote Connor Gillispie

Castillo was traded twice by the Marlins back in the 2016-2017 range in a weird series of events. KBO legend Dan Straily wa sthe eventual return for Castillo.

No matter what happens tonight, we have won the day as Eury Perez returned to the mound in a one inning stint at Jupiter.

Plus Joe Mack hit a homer in Jacksonville tonight.

Heck yeah. Alderman went yard in Pensacola too.

Also, Mesa Jr. had his first rehab start in Jupiter. No hits, but good to see him back on the field.

Junk pitched today so would slot right in. He's been pretty good at AAA although I think he is another placeholder.

Mazur is definitely a part of the future, have no problem if they want to give him a shot but also no problem if they keep him down for more seasoning.

Fitterer or Snelling both could get called up to AAA from AA if they keep it up as well.

If we can push out guys like Quantrill and Gillispie and keep leveling up our prospects as corresponding moves that will be a big part of our long-term plan and success.

Low leverage spot to see if Soriano can show anything.

He's teetereing on the edge of losing his place as well. Several guys are throwing well in JAX if he can't right the ship.

Bellozo has been very good at AAA as well so if they don't want to waste a 40-man roster spot on calling up Junk they can use him again.

Soriano has to be optioned again. He needs to try and figure it out in AAA. Same with Gillispie, can't see him even going to the bullpen at this point. He needs to work on his mechanics and streamline his delivery.

Personal pet peeve: I hate when they throw a position player out there to pitch.

1) It's the ultimate humiliation. Saying we surrender and our real pitchers can't get you out.

2) What happens if the position player hurts himself. Arm injury or hard comebacker.

Sanoja is a big part of our future and there is 0% reward and some risk. I know you don't want to burn a bullpen arm but it's plain stupid.
