January 9, 200422 yr these questions are useless... basically this is what we've got so far: there's no way the orange bowl game will be moved back to the OB. arriola says he supports UM completely and he's looking out for them. arriola says the marlins are too poor to afford to build a stadium... he repeats this many times. arriola says they won't be buying out/condemning land around the stadium. he supports the business of parking in backyards. arriola won't comment on what "projects" will be built on bicentennial park, and hank says it can't be used for "environmental reasons." hank says its stupid to put a stadium in broward county.
January 9, 200422 yr season tix holder said john henry took a poll during a town hall meeting of season tix holders at fanfest and out of 300, only 30 would go to a Miami stadium.
January 9, 200422 yr reason for drastic change in orange bowl look is to attract more soccer to OB, not the ballpark.
January 9, 200422 yr Screw soccer... soccer sucks ( no offense ) I only watch the world cup. sometimes
January 9, 200422 yr I should have told them to pronounce it "One-Key", cuz that's how it wouldbe closest in English.
January 9, 200422 yr what happened in your call juanky Nothing much, he gave the typical political answer.
January 9, 200422 yr In the last 24 hours, this club has come closer to the ballpark dream than anytime in the future. Not perfect...yes, but what the hell in Miami is?
January 9, 200422 yr Not sure if anyone else picked up on this, but when Arriola was asked how much money the City of Miami already had for the OB upgrade he was very evasive. Out of the $110M needed, he stated they had about $16M, and could bond out another $30-40M from the sale of luxury boxes and they would get the rest somewhere (lots of hand waving). He later stated the primary motivation for getting the Marlins to the OB site is to redevelop the area. So this is the City's alterior motive. They don't have the money and want the Marlins to drive a deal so they can redevelop the OB area. He also stated that he would be happy if the Marlins ended up anywhere in South Florida, but the City would only participate if it was on city property. The way I read that is the City is trying to find a way to benefit themselves, and if they can't, then they want no part of it.
January 9, 200422 yr A question to those that listened and/or participated. Was there anything new revealed about the ballpark? Anything that made you say, "I didn't know that, that's interesting." Thanks

Thanks The one thing he clarified is that there has been discussions to add two parking garages with a capacity of 1500 cars each, although he didn't say that was already included in the $375M plan.

Here's my question though: with the shared luxury box tower, how is that broken down, but more importantly, I'm assuming the Marlins were already leveraging the boxes when pledging their $137 million, and if Miami is taking that into consideration, what goes on there? Oh, and naming rights, and parking. Lots of questions, not enough answers, not a great way to sell the fans on this...
January 9, 200422 yr there's no way the orange bowl game will be moved back to the OB. Where's the incentive for the city to do anything with the OB site then?
