January 10, 200422 yr Well I think you have to take into account: Which population would be more willing to buy higher-priced tickets, ect? Palm Beach has a much higher average household income the Miami-Dade AND Broward. would you rather have 10,000 people in the stadium, all with expensive tickets, or 25,000 people with a variety of tickets? Besides you dont have to be rich to buy a 50 dollar ticket for 20 games. Obviously, you can't be poor either. If we have enough 20 game ticket buyers, we'll be fine Again, why do you seem to think there is no fan base in PBC? There are tons of Marlin fans here, just like in Downtown Miami, that don't go due to traffic and distance. The number you just threw out is an insult to everyone in this county. I think there is a fan base in PBC, but there are so many more people in miami, you're bound to hav more marlins fans. Even if in miami, the ratio of people to marlins fans is 1:10, and in PBC, it's 1:5, you'd STILL get more people in a miami stadium, because it has more than twice the population of PBC
January 10, 200422 yr Not saying that I would like the stadium to be in PBC, but I think people might be more willing to accept this particular proposal if it was in Boca and not Mangonia Park in northern PBC. Mangonia Park is 30 miles north of Boca, even, which makes it more central to Martin and St. Lucie counties than Dade and Broward, which is ridiculous.
January 10, 200422 yr Author If the Marlins dont get a good deal in Miami or Broward I think Palm Beach is a good place but I dont know about the fan based.
January 10, 200422 yr If the Marlins dont get a good deal in Miami or Broward I think Palm Beach is a good place but I dont know about the fan based. they already got their good deal in miami

A stadium in NORTHERN PB County is an awful idea.

January 10, 200422 yr A stadium in any of PBC, especially Northern PB, would kill the entire Miami fan base (yes there still is one, give the biggest county in the southern US a chance and alienate a lot of Broward fans. A stadium in Downtown Miami would be accessable to PBC fans (15 minutes past PPS IN rush hour because there is no traffic on I-95 heading south) unless you clowns think that PPS is too far. I'm telling you guys: There is never traffic past PPS in the southbound lanes during rush hour traffic. So if you'd go to a game at this football stadium, PPS, (but you don't) you could only go 15 minutes more to a Downtown/ OB stadium.
January 10, 200422 yr Not saying that I would like the stadium to be in PBC, but I think people might be more willing to accept this particular proposal if it was in Boca and not Mangonia Park in northern PBC.? January 11, 200422 yr *looks at map* You people do know that the distance between Miami and WPB is equal to that of Philadelphia and NYC?
January 11, 200422 yr You people do know that the distance between Miami and WPB is equal to that of Philadelphia and NYC? You learn something new everyday...
January 11, 200422 yr How long does it take to get to PPS for you? around 45-60 Minutes pending Traffic. I am 14 though so i cant officially drive so thats how it takes for my parent to drive there. Sometimes Later.

January 11, 200422 yr My point is let the Marlins move to Miami and let the Expos move to WPB. :lol Anything north of Ft. Lauderdale IMO shouldn't be considered. However beggars can't be choosers.
January 11, 200422 yr Stay in Orlando buddy, you don't know what you're talking about! I am... and I know what I'm talking about...
January 11, 200422 yr It's simple... Miami had it's chance... It's more like "Carol City has had its chance". Miami's only now at bat. FYI, the county commissioner representing that area (Betty Ferguson) has promised the residents in Carol City that she'll oppose another stadium in the same area. So unless the rest of the bunch pushes the issue, you can scratch off CC effectively. Either way, Mangonia Park would be quite a trek for both Dade and Broward residents. If I'm Loria/Sampson I would think long before negotiating with King.
January 11, 200422 yr For all you who claim to know where all the fans come from, this is from the latest Sun-Sentinel article: The Marlins say 40 percent of their fans hail from Broward County, 13 percent to 15 percent from Palm Beach County and 40 percent from Miami-Dade County, the rest from outside South Florida.

See! 40% from Dade but the stadium is as far from Dade as it is from PBC. DT: Miami has never had its' chance. The stadium is 45 minutes from Downtown not to mention the city's southern neighborhoods. You don't know what you're talking about.

January 11, 200422 yr See! 40% from Dade but the stadium is as far from Dade as it is from PBC. Time for that geography lesson.

January 11, 200422 yr Well it should be more than 40% in Broward if the stadium is there. The stadium is in DADE. Yes, it's not in the center of Dade, but it's not in the center of Broward either, given it's practically on County Line. That's why 40:40 makes sense.
