January 12, 200422 yr Wheres nevin i think hes playing RF and Loretta is very underrated, he bated ,314 last year, the edge goes to the pads on that one

January 12, 200422 yr Author Um, what about the Dodgers? :lol they're offense is just as bad and now they're pitching has weakened as well
January 12, 200422 yr Author Um, what about the Dodgers? I happen to think Arizona's gonna be pretty good myself. not with a washed up Randy Johnson and not without Schilling
January 12, 200422 yr Author We'll see about that. Cuz you know the Giants suck. the giants are only slightly weaker than last year. If schmidt's healthy we're going to be running away with the division again, especially considering that LA and Arizona have weakened much more than we have. but it doesn't matter because we could have the best players at every position, the five best pitchers in our rotation, and we'd still lose in the playoffs

Johnson is healthy, they added Sexson to the lineup without losing anyone there. Schilling hurts, but they're not exactly thin. Johnson, Webb, Dessens, Patterson, Fossum is pretty good in my book. It's deeper than San Francisco's rotation. Hermanson? Tomko? Arizona's highly underrated.

If I remember you told The Padres would suprise people. Lawrence disappointed me and Wells is not going to make them drasitically better. The Padre's are a success with a third place finish.
January 12, 200422 yr the padres are not done yet. they have too many scary pieces to get blown out of the water by the giants let alone any team in that division. giles, klesko, nady, burroughs (should be a lot better), greene (possibly), loretta, nevin, kendall/hernandez. their biggest weakness really is that they have no speed and need a table setter. their rotation is not that great, but aside from schmidt, what does the giants really have in their rotation? an older reueter? jerome williams? dustin hermanson who sucks, brett tomko who also sucks? the padres find one/two pitchers on the market still and they will be fine.
January 13, 200422 yr Burroughs > Alfonzo Loretta > Durham Bochy > feces > alou Everything else I can pretty much agree with except a couple of your pitching comparisons.
January 13, 200422 yr Padres projected roster, rotation, and batting order: 2B Loretta 3B Burroughs CF Giles 1B Nevin LF Klesko RF Nady C Hernandez SS Greene SP Wells SP Lawrence SP Peavy SP Eaton SP Valdes/Hitchcock LHP ? LHP/RHP Hitchcock/Valdes RHP Howard RHP Wiatsack RHP Linebrink RHP Beck CLS Hoffman C Ojeda IF Cirillo IF Vasquez OF Buchanan OF Long according to an October Baseball Prospectus interview with Kevin Towers, about a week before Spring Training ends, they're going to fly Klesko, Long, Buchanan, Giles, and Nady to Petco Field, and have them play the OF in simulated games...due to the short RF there, Klesko is an option there. once they 5 outfielders determine wheather or not it's easier to play LF or RF, Klesko will be given that position. posted roster is also contingent based on singing another LHP for the bullpen (Mike Bynum may be put there) and trading Cirillo and Long to Pittsburgh for Jason Kendall.
