I was just trying to say that you shouldn't feel sorry for the Marlins about Pudge leaving for money when they rid themselves of players in offseason 97/98 that expected to play for a competitive team for years to come. That was my only point and I will leave this forum now. I wish you all good luck in the up and coming seasons and I never meant anything against Marlin Fan themselves. Tigerfan76

January 18, 200422 yr My Spanish teacher (even though I am a native Spanish speaker, but I need two credits of Spanish) is from Michigan near Detroit. I find it quite funny that a guy from Detroit, married to a Mexican is teaching the American-born, son of two Cubans Spanish. :lol BTW, he is a huge Red Wings and Tigers fan. He wears Tigers and Red Wings clothing, jackets, ties, etc. every day. He looks like a billboard for Olympia Entertainment. His response to the Pudge rumors were "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!" Guess he doesn't like greedy catchers either.
January 18, 200422 yr Tigerfan76, Hey everybody has an opinion and alot of what you stated is true. However, unless you lived downhere in South Florida and have experience the whole story with the Marlins and Hueizanga 'Bald Headed F....' (BHF) you could never understand what Marlin fans have gone through. I speak as a true Marlin Fan I had season tickets from 1993 to 2000, then I gave up season tickets until last year (I am glad I did!!!) so have seen everything. THe bottom line is that Baseball as we know it change back in the early 70's with free agency in order to win a championship you need a combination of home grown talent and free agents just look at the yankees the only reason that everybody says that the 1997 Marlins bought the pennant was because Hueizenga got rid of most the players after the World Series if he didn't do that then nobody would have a reason to complain that is just what the yankees do everyyear. As far as the 2004 Tigers at least they are trying but lets be honest Vina, White, Pudge are in the end of their careers and Guillen is always hurt(just ask Seattle why would they replace Guillen with Aurilia) and as far as Johnson at best he is a 4th or 5th starter. Just ask yourself this question are Vina, White, Pudge, Guillen & Johnson going to lead the Tigers to the playoffs or is this just window dressing by Ilitch (your owner) to get fans back to the stadium. I think if money was not an issue they could have offered Tejada or Guerrero more than they got from Baltimore and Angels again ask yourself would the Tigers have been better off with Tejada or Pudge. January 18, 200422 yr I must've missed the thread where Tiger fans claimed that signing Pudge would take them to the WS. Tejada turned Detroit down and Vlad wouldn't even talk to us, so getting the likes of Vina, White, Guillen, and Johnson was the best DD could do, and I support all of those moves. The 2004 Tigers are now a MLB team, albeit a below average MLB team. Last year was fricking embarrassing, and I would never wish that on any team's fans -- except the Yankees.
January 18, 200422 yr 1st of i read many posts of our people blasting ya owner 4 giving Fudge the cheeeeese he wants....... all ya owner is doing is tryin to improve the team..... i mean last year ya team was prob the worse team to eva play in the majors..... i mean what is it to ya owner he just got rid of Dean Palmers heavy ass contract all that $$$$$ went to waste... and when the f*** is higgenson gonna hop back on the roids eva since he got off his numbers have been slipin...... Notice he got on teh roids in a contract year...... damn baseball players.......
