Rick Reed in a Marlins Uni?

Featured Replies

Rick Reed - S - Minnesota Twins Jan 23

The Marlins have joined the Mets in trying to acquire Rick Reed, offering him a one-year deal.

If signed, Reed would act as a fifth starter until the return of A.J. Burnett. He'd probably then join the bullpen.

I doubt it. He was quoted (and I wish I could find the quote) saying his heart was in Flushing, NY and always will be. There is no way he'll sign with the Marlins if the Mets offer him a contract.

I would rather el duque too, but remember, Reed will sign with the Mets IF they offer him a contract. Not really a bad guy to have around.

In my desperate search to find something good about Reed comign here I found that over the past few years he has become more of a fly ball pitcher. Unfortunetly that has more to do with the dingers he gives up. Hm... um... oh.. Maybe PPS can help.

OK. I found something.

He'll only be promised a slot in the rotation for 4-6 weeks at the start of the season (a 3.83 and 3.65 ERA during April and May over the past three years in the Homer Dome compared his 4.21 overall ERA) and may move to the bullpen (3.97 ERA as a reliever in 11 innings pitched in August and September) when Burnett comes back.

Also PPS should keep his ERA respectable enough that he could also be used as trade bait.
