Is it me or is Melo...

Featured Replies

Not to take anything away from Carmelo, he's a great player but he needs to get over himself...

Although he rarely went one-on-one with Wade, Anthony exited late in the fourth quarter shaking his head.

"It looked like tonight Dwyane took something personal," Anthony said. "I don't know if he had something against me or us as a team."

Earlier, some at AmericanAirlines Arena were shaking their heads when the Heat dared run a video from All-Star Weekend that featured ESPN host Kevin Frazier saying it was possible Wade had moved ahead of Anthony as the league's second-best rookie to the Cavaliers' James.

"I thought he was going to come out and play a lot harder," Wade said of Anthony's reaction to that clip. "But it revved me up, too."

Said Anthony, "I take that and laugh."

By the third quarter, fans in those former lottery-party sections were taunting Anthony. It was a remarkable turnaround on a night when countless powder-blue Anthony jerseys dotted the stands, as did a few bright-orange Syracuse versions.

"I wasn't trying to make a statement versus Carmelo," Wade said. "I was just trying to make a statement like I do every night."

And I remember Lebron and Carmelo were both asked if they would take an All-Star spot if one was open due to injuries or whatever, and both said "no" but Bron changed his mind and said he would but nooooo, Carmelo was "too good" for an All-Star spot..I mean, why should he play in such an honor because he wasn't picked the first time? Oh give me a f***ing break.

Also, in interviews...he always seems annoyed like he's too busy to talk to them.

Lebron and Dwyane would never be like that. But whatever. Just thought I'd comment.

In another incident at the Espy awards(I think) Carmelo thanked himself while picking up an award. I actually thought that that was funny.

Yeah that was pretty funny when they showed Kevin Frazier saying that. Everyone in the crowd started clapping. And it was awesome when they started chanting Melo sucks.

It was a pretty animated crowd yestreday, there were also fights against some Nugget fans who must have been talking s*** and they starting chanting refs suck.

You know, people talk about philadelphia fans, but miami fans are pretty bad too. Ive gone to 4 heat games this season, and in 3 of them they've chanted "Ref you suck", I guess you can add this one too, and the melo sucks too.

Miami is pretty bad.

Just a lot of loud and proud Cubans I guess. :p

Yes because we all know, Miami fans NEVER EVER start fights

Yes because we all know, Miami fans NEVER EVER start fights Well I assumed it was the Nugget fans because it was when Carmelo was getting to the line and they were probably mocking some Heat fans.

The only thing I see is that you guys are taking this way out of hand because you just played Denver.

What Carmelo said was hardly cocky or self promoting. And this is coming from the person who thinks 99% of sports celebrations and athletes are too selfish.

You've never sat in the Fish Tank now have you :hat

haha

I mean he is a good player and everything, the stats speak for themselves but his ego is :thumbdown

It's gonna bite him in the ass someday

Meh. Carmelo has an ego. Oh no. He's also got a ton of game and he's 19 years old. He'll mature. We've all seen much, MUCH worse.

At least he's not out getting busted for possession, DUIs, or rape.

I'll take an ego, although he seems pretty cool to me. And if you think LeBron doesn't have one...you're crazy.

I'd like to thank myself for contributing this post.

I hate this Carmelo guy! That is what I love about the Marlins. No egoes. Would #21 ever, ever do something like that?

lol I'm not saying it's a big deal or anything. But it's noticeable enough and it's annoying sometimes. I just have this thing - I cannot stand people thinking they're too good and stuff like that...Melo's walking that line.

But whatever, I don't wanna make it a big thing but I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

good post Hugg...

the kid is 20, let him grow

You can look at it that way or think about it this way...he's 20 and already has an ego like he achieved something great...big whoop he avgs 20 pts - so do 20 other players. And I'm just comparing him to Wade and somewhat Lebron. Wade is just so down to earth and the last thing he would say is "I take that and laugh"..that's the line that pissed me off. If he woulda never said that, this thread would never be here.

He doesn't care what Kevin Frazier thinks and why should he?

Maybe he could say he feels "disrespected." That'd be awesome, I ALWAYS love it when athletes get "disrespected" by the media.

And if someone told me Wade's better than Carmelo, you know what I'd do?

Laugh.

Yeah, well it's different coming from the player itself than a fan.

He coulda just said "That's his opinion" or something corny and that's that and not make it sound like "What the hell is he talking about? He must be on crack to put him in the same category as me...by the way, can you refer to me as Mr. Anthony from now on?"

some people take waaayy too much from a handful of quotes. You don't know him. Don't tell us he has an ego. Because you don't know. I don't know. I don't care. You shouldn't care. He plays basketball. He gets paid to play basketball. All you know is him playing basketball. You don't know what he is like off the court (which is where you find someone's personality...not on the court). We don't hear about him getting in trouble off the court, so...he seems alright so far.

Note that if Dwyane Wade was a Nugget and 'Melo was on the Heat and this exact same comment occured, this topic would be about how awesome Carmelo is.

I never said just because of that quote. I gave more than 1 example. And Nc Marlin was nice enough to provide another example. Ego might be too strong of a word. But I definitely think he has a lot of self-confidence..maybe too much. But that's my opinion. I'm not trying to persuade you into thinking that, just stating my thoughts.
