March 3, 200422 yr On the day the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority agreed to sell Miami Arena, the facility lost its only remaining tenant. The Miami Manatees, a first-year minor-league hockey team that plays in the WHA-2, exercised an out clause in its contract with the arena, according to owner David Waronker, who is trying to sell the team to a group headed by Miami real estate developer Al Harper. Waronker said the Manatees will move their home games to an arena in Kendall or in Maitland, outside Orlando. A decision will be made this week. The Manatees' agreement with the arena allowed the team to cancel its lease after 20 home games if the team wasn't averaging 1,500 spectators. The average attendance has been less than 1,000. ''I'm disappointed,'' Waronker said. ``We're underperforming.'' http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/8092420.htm

March 4, 200422 yr the panthers are too far theres too much traffic getting up there they havent been to the playoffs in years but getting back to the manatees i loved going to games at the miami arena, and now there going to maitland. this will only be worth it if miami arena is the site of the new ballpark
March 4, 200422 yr the panthers are too far Where do you live? It takes me about 45 minutes from Hialeah. theres too much traffic getting up there Go on a weekend and you're fine. they havent been to the playoffs in years So? They're having a good season this year. Anyways, weren't the Marlins in that position before????? Hmmm....
March 4, 200422 yr Well you can't compare the Marlins' playoff drought to the Panthers. The Panthers are having a good season, but Marlins' games are better baseball is better than hockey. Getting from my house to ODC probably takes about 90 minutes or so. For a 7:00 game I'd have to leave at 5:00 and get home at 11ish. I'll stay home or go to Heat games.

Damn right Capefish, though I would've loved to have the Manatees stay so we can have some minor league hockey down here actually.
March 4, 200422 yr the panthers are too far theres too much traffic getting up there they havent been to the playoffs in years Where do you live Homestead? The American Airlines arena is harder to get to than the ODC. Traffic? What the, every game I've gone to this year and the past 3 years(60+) there has been absolutely no traffic getting up there except in areas where the traffic lanes merge. So what if they haven't been to the Playoffs, the Candiens hadn't been to the playoffs for almost ten years before Patrick Roy and they still sold out every game. The Detroit Red Wings used to be in the same situation as the Panthers (They developed through the draft believe it or not) and then when ole Scotty Bowman got to that team, they went off on a tear and that continues with Dave Lewis...
March 4, 200422 yr i believe you take I-75 to get there, and i got to say its a beautiful trip evertime i go on I-75 to go to sheridan which i know is a little south of the ODC

Your point is? Baseball is baseball. Hockey is hockey. My point is that the Marlins struggled too and look at them now. Why not give the Panthers a chance?

I went to see the Heat and the Raptors on Tuesday, and from my home it took 14 minutes there and 11 minutes back. The only times I have been out to the ODC it has taken 90 minutes. Where do you live? How the hell is AAArena harder to get to than ODC?

March 4, 200422 yr All the routes to the AAA have a bottleneck because of downtown's old street system. The ODC has a modern, suburban highway system.
March 4, 200422 yr Ever notice in downtown it can take you 15 minutes to go from the old arena to the new one during a night when the Heat have a full game and bayside is busy?
