  1. Nice catch by Marisnick! Eovaldi continues to skate on thin ice...
  2. Not good fellas. I have a hard time believing a 2-0 lead is going to stand up.
  3. Yes! Pitcher's best friend, the DP!
  4. Whew! He just got under that or it was gone. Eovaldi is skating on thin ice this entire game.
  5. That's Eovaldi for ya. Falls behind the pitcher leading off and has to throw a fastball down the middle, next thing you know the pitcher's on first base. Now falls behind to Rollins.
  6. Damn. Let's hope that's not a momentum changer.
  7. Thank God he got out of it. Very frustrating watching him pitch like this when the slider doesn't get the low part of the strike zone and all he has left is the fastball. At any moment it could be boom, 3 run HR on a 3-1 or 3-2 count.
  8. I just voted a bunch of times for the ASG. Seriously, Rich & Tommy are right. Stanton deserves to start. Lopez only has 12 HRs and about 40 RBI, and is only batting about 10 points higher than G.
  9. Ugh. I really hope I'm wrong, but they better keep adding on runs cause I just don't see a great performance coming from Eovaldi tonight.
  10. Carlos Gomez over Stanton in the All Star Game? Ridiculous. Lets vote some more, fellas. That would be a real disgrace.
  11. And for once Salty didn't throw it way to the right side of 2nd base. There might be hope for him defensively yet!
  12. Nice pitch! He needs to throw that more!
  13. With that fastball, if Eovaldi started throwing a change up with regularity, he'd be devastating. But it's real hard to be a two pitch pitcher in this league.
  14. Ozuna right now is a confused hitter. The knock on him has been that he doesn't think when he goes up to it, he just goes up there swinging aggressively at everything regardless of the situation, regardless of what the pitcher is trying to do, etc. I would bet that he heard that stuff and is now trying to go up there with a plan, trying to guess how the pitcher is trying to set him up, etc. The result is that now he is thinking way too much! He's standing there trying to figure out what the pitcher's trying to do and before he knows it, he's got two strikes on him.
  15. Mcgehee is the definition of clutch!
  16. We need Nathan Eovaldi to finally step up and pitch like a front of the rotation pitcher. He has been garbage lately. The baby excuse is worn out already. He supposedly does have a 3rd pitch, a change up, in addition to the fastball and slider. He needs to start using it regularly, or he will keep having games like the past few where hitters are sitting on his fastball and taking him into the upper deck. So far he's been a two trick pony, 97 mph fastball & 87 mph slider. When the slider is off he has to throw fastballs and that's the end of that. And even if the slider is on, only having two pitches is not gonna do it in this day and age. What made Jose Fernandez so great is he had about 4 different pitches he could throw. Eovaldi's velocity is maybe even greater than Jose's. But with only two pitches, he's just half the pitcher Jose is. So, Go Eovaldi! LOL...Pitch like an Ace tonight!
  17. Unbelievable. I go out of town for the weekend and everything falls apart. It's really not a stretch to say this series is crucial. Losing 3 out of 4 here would be a disaster, and the team might start a slide that they can't get out of. Then at the Trading Deadline goodbye McGehee, maybe good bye Cishek, maybe good bye Stanton. This team needs to get back over .500 to prevent Loria from doing what he does best: getting rid of payroll. Therefore....Go Fish!
  18. Damn. That sucks. This team definitely misses Yelich, who was starting to get hot when he was hurt. Well, what are ya gonna do? This makes tomorrow's game critical. Win, or go under .500. I gotta go out of town for the weekend so I won't be here with youze mugs, but I'll be with ya in spirit. You guys are a pretty good bunch. Go Fish!
  19. So who's next? Dontrelle Willis? Livan Hernandez? Alex Fernandez? Maybe...Rob Nenn. LOL....
  20. Morris has been a great pick up. And how has Redmond used him? Well, I can recall at least two games where Red passed over Morris in favor of some bum in the bullpen who promptly came in a and blew the game. Don't get me wrong, I like Redmond's style; he's relaxed and the players seem to like him. He's probably a good motivator. I just have an issue with some of his in-game decision making.
  21. If the Marlins lose tonight they will be at .500, and we should be very worried about them sliding several games under, especially as they will be going on the road for a bunch of games after this series. What pisses me off is the five or six games that Redmond absolutely just threw away with his terrible bullpen management and experimentation, and generally managing as if losing a game early in the season was no big deal.
  22. Morris has been excellent. The guy has been awesome since he got here, and even if he had allowed a run in that inning, how could anyone say anything snarky about the guy? Nobody is perfect. Even Mariano Rivera gave up runs. Blew saves. Lost games. It happens; it's baseball.
  23. Anyway, it was a very good start for the kid. You really can't fault him for being a bit jittery at first or for giving up a HR to a great player like Wright. If he continues to pitch like this the rest of the year he definitely should help stabilize a rotation that has been shaky, to say the least. I don't know if he will be The Savior and make up for the loss of Jose Fernandez, but that's really asking too much of the kid. In my opinion the biggest disappointment in the rotation has been Eovaldi. Maybe with Heaney here he will feel less pressure to be The Man and go back to pitching like he did earlier in year when Jose was here.
